C230 with M272 3.5 Swapped (2008 Model)
Hey Guys,
I recently swapped a 3.5 M272 instead of the old 2.5 in my w204, and with a slight software programming it is a smooth as it can be.
I have a slight problem though that I am not able to fix, my car is acting like it is turbocharged while it is an NA obviously.
Everytime I rev my car, it does the power jump that NA cars do, but everytime, on every gear, at 5K RPM exactly it does a second jump with way much more power.
Does anyone have any idea what’s going on?
(my car has 322000 KMs on it, which is why I swapped the new engine, and my Transmission was changed at around 250K, broke down due to me
)

There is a calibration/reset/relearn process for the transmission. There is a YouTube video with a couple of German technicians in white lab coats driving around with DAS/XENTRY laptop making adjustments to the transmission. One guy drives while the other sits in the back seat (not sure how that would work for SLs
). If I can find it, I'll post it here. It is not the same as some videos show with holding the pedal down while turning the car on and off, etc. This process looks quite involved, but should be done in less than an hour, so maybe not so expensive.
Additionally, there is an electronic throttle reset that can be done with an iCarsoft MB V3.0 or Launch Creader Elite Benz scan tool (both under $150 from Amazon -- I recommend the Creader Elite tool.). Again, search YouTube.

so you don’t think there’s anything mechanical broken, right ?
Also, I’ve been meaning to tune the ECU to get more horsepower, do you think that would take care of this issue on its own ?
thanks again!

You definitely need two people who know what they are doing. I tried to do it once by myself and was unable to do it safely.
