Errors about lights and steering making noises
A few years ago, my ESL failed and I had it repaired. However, I had to seek out a mechanic in Dallas to address two issues: programming the replacement ESL and realigning my steering column (it was offset by 10 degrees). Unfortunately, the mechanic did a poor job reassembling everything. Ever since, my car inaccurately indicates that the front, tail, and license plate lights are out — requiring me to dismiss the errors 10 times each time I start the car, even though they are actually functioning. Furthermore, my steering wheel produces loud squeaks when I turn it.
Regarding the erroneous light warning, I suspect it's due to a loose plug connected to the steering wheel. I don't recall its precise location, however. Does anyone know the easiest way to access this plug to ensure it is connected properly?
Separately, does anyone know how to fix the steering wheel noise? It becomes worse as the external temperature drops.
P.S. If anyone suggests taking the car back to Mr. Martin's Mobile/German Car Repair for corrections, I would like to note that I tried that. After Mr. Martin repaired my car, the COVID-19 pandemic hit, and the first chance things somewhat open in Texas I immediately went to him. He mentioned that he was busy and that he would reach back to me. I told him that I was moving 180miles away so please give me a few days of heads up and he said he would. I contacted him numerous times. Ever wouldn't answer the phone or when someone answered the phone they only spoke Spanish. When I managed to reach him, it was years later and he refused to help. Thanks, Martin's Mobile/German Car Repair
Sorry about the crappy repair and service. You may be stuck getting the ESL repaired again. You may want to use www.benzshops.com to find a reputable independent shop.
