C350 Direct Injection

Hello everyone,

I still have not performed an upgrade since I decided to delay it a bit. However now I seem ready to move on, I still want to continue with W204 but I am really under the dilemma. Below you will find a comparison between the car I want to get and mine.

https://www.auto-data.net/en/compare...=45847&carId3=

The first car is the one I would probably get, the second is mine. What bothers me is the fuel consumption urban. I do not believe it could go that low even with the fact it's with direct injection. Can someone with with the same W204 around 2012-2014 confirm if those metrics are accurate? Although for mine which is on the right side seem totally accurate, I somehow still struggle to believe that it can go that lower for the 2013-2014 version. Perhaps something like 12l/100 km seems reasonable.

If I did the math right, 9.6L/100km=2.53g/62miles=24.5mpg. I don't know how you define "urban" but 24.5mpg is about right (if my wife is driving).

Traditional port injection is less efficient than direct injection. That's why your car has more emissions. Also, the 7G Plus tranny uses a lower viscosity fluid, also contributing to less fuel consumption.

Apologies for the delay. Because a friend of mine is having C350 2014 and he told me to forget about those metrics, it will most probably hold around 15 L/100km. Probably should mention that he is AWD and not RWD, I am not sure if the 4Matic increases the fuel to that point

As you are probably aware, those fuel economy numbers are based on a specific cycle of stop and go, which no one actually follows. The best estimate is from someone like your friend who has the same car and engine and drives in the same setting as you.

For example: I drive in a suburban area with minor traffic congestion and get much better economy than specified for my car. For me, the 50 liter fuel tank is fine. A friend who lives 20 miles away in the city and has many hours each week in very slow traffic has never achieved the listed numbers. My friend complains that the 50 liter fuel tank is much too small.

Thank you, Odd Piggy. I'd go for it regardless. I just wanted to make sure if those metrics are somewhat accurate. I'm not looking for complete economy, but why not go for the one that offers 12l/100 instead of the one with 15l/100 :P
