I recently bought a Road Top Carplay for W204 (NTG4.5 4.7), plugged everything as per provided instructions. The purchase was on AliExpress (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004673353453.html?spm=a2g0n.order_detail.order _detail_item.3.3d2df19cyUIzdX) and then I followed the instructions provided with the kit. Connecting the main harness wires (including moving the fiber optic audio cable into the new unit’s main harness but I cannot figure out why audio is not outputting once the unit is connected.
I’ve tried:
reseating the main harness in the MB unit to make sure its a correct seal and re-inserting the fiber optic cable multiple times
Make sure the audio source is set to AUX
Deleted all prior bluetooth devices in the mercedes OEM interface
Unplugged anything from the arm center box
Connected the aux cable provided with the kit to the AMI plug in my armrest, as required by the instructions
I’m confused because no audio is working at all with the new Carplay Unit installed, but when I go back to the OEM headunit then audio works again.

I believe this is your sound source. If all else fails, email RoadTop - their customer service is great. I had a different issue (screen going black). they emailed me a software update that resolved my issue.

Thank you! Yes, I did connect the AMI cable (square connector), but never got it to work.

Also, make sure your iPhone is configured to work with your Road Top unit. In my car, LuTuo is the Road Top unit. Have you tried connecting using the USB cable (Bluetooth is not the most reliable)? Does your map app work? What app are you trying to hear?
If you ground the “audio-gnd” cable does it start working? I’ve found out that the audio aux signal is not grounded for some reason. I don’t know if this is due to a problem with the box or harness.
