C250 - ALUMINUM VALVE COVER FAILED 😞
Hey everyone,
I regret to inform you all that the aluminum valve cover I installed on my c250 has failed.
i wanted to get on here and apologize for recommending it and if anyone already purchased it.
mine failed within 3-4 months of installing it. It started leaking around the screw holes that mounted the middle piece of the valve cover to the bottom piece.
here is a video on my YouTube showing where it failed - C250 - ALUMINUM VALVE COVER FAILED
if anyone is planning to replace the valve cover on their m271 evo engine, I highly recommend you just buy the OEM Mercedes plastic one. I bought it from the dealer, it was overnighted and came with all the gaskets.
after talking with the parts guy, it sounds like the plastic one molds/forms to the cylinder head where the aluminum may have not. OR it was improperly sealed when it was made. Either way just buy the OEM plastic valve cover.
I apologize for recommending it and if anyone already installed it keep and eye on it.
