Torque spec for CV axle boot Clamps?

Torque spec for CV axle boot Clamps?

Im preparing to replace a leaking front cv axle boot and noticed the tool used to tighten the boot clamps is meant to be used with a torque wrench, at least the tools im thinking of using.

Anyone happen to know the torque spec for the clamps? W204 4matic sport front passenger side outer boot, both clamps.

Im thinking of getting the Lisle brand clamp tool, seems to have good reviews unlike "cheaper" versions/brands. I see this tool pinches the ears together and then pushes the middle down at the same time. I see others just simply pinch the ears together but dont push the middle down. I want to do it right the first time, no leaking and the tool not breaking halfway thru.

Think I found the answer. Looks like the gap is supposed to be measured, equal to or less than 2.5mm. Also found out exactly how much grease to put in, looks like 140g. I bought 2 packs of GKN grease from FCP and wonder if thats enough, didnt see a size on the label. Should be delivered today to find out.

Im probably over thinking it and planning for the worst. Reading reviews for the cv clamp tools I see a few that say the cheaper no name pliers broke. Ive also seen some people say they needed alot of leverage to be able to fully crimp the larger size clamps. i have been looking at close-ups of photos of the different pliers and can see a size difference in material on the Lisle brand compared to cheaper ones.

I should have just bought it from FCP since they have it for only $21 and its $28 on Amazon. FCP screwed up my order and instead of sending me two $3 packs of grease they sent me a battery cable for a BMW that looks like its well over $100. Maybe i'll call them tomorrow morning and tell them i'll ship back the cable if they send me the grease and the tool. Im going to send it back anyways but at least would like to buy the tool so they can include it with the grease so im can get out of paying another shipping cost.

2nd time in a row FCP sent me things I didnt order. Last time it was missing trans parts and instead had Audi oil filters.

Seriously, the iCrimp tool I listed above is a high-quality tool and easy to use. It's made by IWISS and comes with a calibration device, if you ever need to adjust it. It is not cheaply made.

I have the Lisle CV Boot Clamp Pliers. The iCrimp tool with the ratcheting mechanism would have been a better choice as a press-until-release tool gives better positive feedback that the crimp has been correctly applied. Using the socket wrench was too cumbersome and needed a second pair of hands.

I ended up getting the Lisle tool. Im planning for the worst figuring ill need alot of leverage to clamp them properly, at least the larger 93.5mm clamps.

Actually very happy I went with the Lisle because they say Made In USA. The look well made, more material and thicker than the various other tools im seeing on Amazon. The only other ones I came across that look similar are a Gear Wrench brand for $29. Ive seen many reviews saying the cheaper tools break.

Im still waiting for the grease. FCP sent me out another order but when I received it yesterday there was only one pack of grease in the box. The pack says 80g and I need 140g so def need two packs to do the job. I just got done chatting with an FCP rep about it and they are sending me another pack. I brought up the battery cable they sent saying if they include a return shipping label in the box ill send back the cable and she said there is no need to. That is crazy, its listed for $139.99.
