I would think so, mercedes never lost the number game. I mean when you compare to a BMW mercdes always was 20-30 hp more on majority of their engines.

After paying more attention, the interior doesn’t look as cheap as I thought. There are subtle chrome trims here and there to help emphasize “luxury”. I like this kind of treatment, it gives me a notion that they’re paying attention to details without making it too bling bling. At least it helps a little bit, although I still hate the black plastic center console, steering wheel and pop up nav. Door panels are definitely an improvement. Brushed aluminum is OK, although I wouldn't mind replacing them with carbon fiber. Just my .02.

Rear Headrests
I really hate to see the rear headrests are now non-retractable just like most other cars. There may be a solution.
If the mounts are the same as on my 06 W203, I could buy a pair of those and plug them in as replacements. I wouldn't have the remote release but that is not a serious problem.
When a W204 is available, I would like someone who can check the dimensions to see if a switch to the W203 type is possible.

No more C320's?
This article from Motor Trend seems to indicate there will only be the
C280 and C350's brought into the US. Later, the C550.
"For the U.S., expect the engine range to be the C280 V-6 (228 horsepower), C350 V-6 (268 horsepower) and the C550 V-8 (380 horsepower), all with the automaker's seven-speed automatic. After a year a C55 AMG is expected. If the current German horsepower war continues, there's room under the hood for a C63 AMG, ready to out-gun even the upcoming V-8-engined BMW M3."

Interesting that they're going to put the 5.5L in the w204 while the w211 and w221 have the same engine...you'd think MB would keep the V8 engine out of the w204 mainstream line. Leave it to AMG to put a 8cyl in the C-Class. It'd be like BMW putting out a 345i or 350i or Audi putting the 4.2L in the mainstream A4 lineup.

I like your idea of changing the headrests to W203 ones. I am pretty sure that the two chrome posts are the same spread on all of the cars so it might work.

Edmunds came out with an article looking at the '08 w204.
Three trims come, C300 (3.0L V6 with 231hp upped from 228hp) comes with Sport and Elagance. The Sport has the 6-speed manual, Elagance has the 7-speed auto. C350 (3.5L V6 with 272hp upped from 268hp) is only offered in Sport with only a 7-speed auto. Sucks they took away the 6-speed.
Heres the article: http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...hotopanel..2.*

I hope that they are wrong about the 350 only being available in the Sports model.
I do believe the report is wrong about the horsepower since the 350's have always been rated 272 hp in Germany and 268 here.

On the C-Class engines, don't forget about the 292 horsepower CGI (direct injected) variant of the 3.5

I think that they did a very good job to compete with the 3 series. BMW went for more of a luxury look versus the past sporty design. Mercedes did both, with and without the AMG package. I think that it is 2 cars with the same name and different bumpers, but it really does make a difference.
