When will we know what the U.S spec cars will get?

I doubt that the U.S will get any of the cool features. We'll probably just get the standard model as the only choice. The AMG package will probably only be available for actual AMG cars in the U.S. I’m also betting the U.S vehicles will not be able to play DVDs (like the Lexus). What else? Umm... 17" wheels even for the AMG models.

Man, don't underestimate MBUSA. AMG will go with 18"
But I I think you are right about the rest of options

Is this engine available yet in any other MB model?
If not, how do you know such a variant exists?

Saw it in the list someone else posted in this thread, then Googled it.

It was my understanding that there were nine engines planned for the W204. Two that would interest us are the C280 (C300) 245 HP and the C350 292 HP. One that should get here in about a year is the C320 Diesel with 252 HP. These are German HP ratings.

I hope they get it right the first time or they could really screw that up doing the design in house for the first time.

Hi folks, my name is Vegard and I`m from Norway. I`m a very big fan of the "starfleet" and follow most MB news with wide open eyes. Just fell in love with the c-class avantgarde front when I recently saw the pics. I`ve seen the company from the inside and been raised in the back seat of different MBs, and therefore I now want to realise my dream; To buy a brand new personally customized Benz.

Recently my economic situation changed a bit after seeling my company, and I have been thinking about preordering the new c180 K for when it gets available for delivery here in Norway (early August). I`ve worked for two years within MB Norway and have quite a few good contacts. Still I can`t really get the info I need about this car. The fact sheets states this modell has 154 b/hp (EU) with the 1.8 litre kompressor feed engine, but I`m curious about the possibilities to tune this engine. My father has always been a Benz man and have got a W211 E 200K Estate tuned to 220 b/hp by Kleeman, but I wonder how difficult it would be to tune the W204 180K to the same b/hp and torque. What is the difference between this engine and a 200 K, and is there anything (tuningwise) on the marked for the new 180 K engine at this moment?

The reason I ask this, and the reason I want to buy the C180 K, is because cars are extremely expensive here in Norway. The more hp, displacement and co2 emissions your car have, the more you pay. A SL 65 AMG would be about 400.000 USD here, just to have a comparison....

Actually the hp tax kicks in from 150 b/hp, which makes the C180 K the most sensible choice of all (economic wise). That means any car over 150 b/hp gets 250 USD tax increase per b/hp exceeding 150. If I can get the C180 K cheap and tune it up by about 70 b/hp, it would be a "bargain". 70 b/hp in after market tuning above the 150 b/hp tax limit, means 17.500 USD less in tax on a new car. The Benz would still be about 55.000 USD here in Norway, and that`s a mayor investment when your`e making about 120.000 USD per year.

In addition I need input on colours and equipment. Usually I do not like white cars, but on the W204 it`s just seems magnificent atm. What kind of options should I go for to make the car look and feel as sporty as possible?

I live in Northern Europe and get a few extra arctic options for free (battery, heating and so on). I`ve already decided to go with the 6-speed (5.000 USD off) and the full command system, but I`m open for any suggestions. Seems like you guys have good taste and are experienced enough to give some good advice. Myself, I`ve never owned a Benz, even if my family has had about 20 of those Stuttgart wonders. I`m thinking of help with colour, wheels, rims, interior, suspension etc etc... Anything optional really... If you could choose a C180 K for free with everything of options, what would you choose? Ranking the options with priority 1-10 would be good as a pointer. I know a lousy C180 K seems like a small deal to many of you here, but to me it`s the greatest investmet of my life. Therefore I want this car to be as close to perfection as possible.

I`m a merc fan, even though I find mercs or cars genereally to be a lousy investment. It`s all about feeling, or maybe feeling well,... It`s like traveling and experiencing exotic countries, is also very expensive and burns your cash like crazy, but still it`s about feelings and experiences. A good experience and a good feeling is what I hope to get in my Benz.... Maybe not the best place to put your money, but it could still be the best feeling you`ll ever get in a car!

I`ve been following Formula 1 since I was about 12 years old, and just admire the way Mercedes combine sport and class. Actually I created a travel business for F1 fans a few years ago. This has made me an even greater MB fan and now I want to experience the Benz feeling close up. Naturally I want to take this opportunity to go to the factory and pick the car up myself to get the full tour.

I really need some input on this one guys, both on engine tuning and options. The options I have to order from the factory in Stuttgart, but the tuning I most probably would get from Kleeman or another third party supplier. Kleeman`s international HQ in Denmark is only a few houres driving from here, so that would be the natural option for tuning. I think a car with the weight of a c-class and with a 200+ b/hp kompressor engine, would be perfect for me as an every day ride. Good fuel economy, great comfort, even greater safety and certianly the greatest satisfaction. BTW: Anyone know the estimated weight of the W204 C180 K?

I do not understand the same issue until now C180 and C200 Kompreesorror are selling as two different car . But if you examine near you can not find difference . Both of them are same engine capasity = 1796 cc and now new C C180=156 HP and C200=184 HP . Why MB selling C180 ? I think No need to sell C180 in the market . It is enough C200 to sell. I think MB does here selling strategy but I repeat again . NO NEED C180 ! The same problem in the diesel engine C200 CDI and C220 CDI have same engine capasity , difference HP .

Different countries, different model specs, I think. This may be because these cars are more expensive in some countries (mine included), so the lower spec models are far more likely to sell eg The C180 new here is $58,990, plus on road costs and charges.

I keep looking more and more at all the pics and of course the W204 is growing on me a bit.

I still don't think the car flows very well, the lines look choppy....and man does the non-amg body look ugly! Even though the sport steering wheel looks anorexic I still do think the overall interior looks more plush...

The question I have is: what happens if you don't get the navigation option, will you still have a pop up display or will you not have any display??

From the pictures I've seen, looks like you'd still have a display, and the lid would still slide up to uncover a screen inside. You just wouldn't have a big display coming out of it.

I like your idea of changing the headrests to W203 ones. I am pretty sure that the two chrome posts are the same spread on all of the cars so it might work.
Damn right. I love the headrests in the back. Love making them drop on unsuspecting people. Childish, I know, but still fun.
