Very rough cold start issue on w204 c180 cgi 7speed petrol
Hello Everyone,
I'm new to MBWorld
Im having an issue with my dads w204 c180 cgi 7speed auto petrol 2012 reg.
The car takes time to start up and is rough until it builds up the revs after 1-2 mins almost like a missfire but unsure if it is, then idles fine. This happens only when the car is stone-cold after leaving it overnight. When the car is started and warmed up its fine all day and drives fine but i do feel a tiny tiny bit of jerkiness low rpm sometimes not all the times.
No codes and parts replace is Fuel filter unit, fuel pump (in tank), both cam sensors, crank sensor, new spark plugs and new timing chain kit. I have also logged the fuel pressures and everything seems to match. Have also made sure the battery is charged before starting. Diverter valve, no splits on turbo.
Has anyone had this issue before ?
Thanks
Has anyone had this issue before ?

Get a proper Mercedes-specific scan tool and scan for codes. Don't waste money on a generic scan tool. Possibly a vacuum leak. Possibly a fueling issue.

What do you mean it takes time to start up? meaning it just cranks over without starting right away?
When I had a starting issue it turned out to be the purge valve. It wouldnt start after getting gas, I would have to push the throttle pedal to the floor then it would fire up. But I was getting a fault code, forget what it was. but the code was for evap leak detected.
Are you using a Mercedes specific obd reader, or just a basic inexpensive one?

The initial cold start up is very rough so it will crank and then try to fire up eventually fires up but is very rough and lumpy until it builds revs and takes 1-2 mins after that it's OK all day.
Used a mechanics Mercedes scanner and no codes are shown and also a snap on machine.
I'm mechanically experienced, but this has puzzled me.
Yes same with this throttle to floor to get it up but still takes a while and very rough

Do yourself a HUGE favor and get your own scan tool. The LAUNCH Creader Elite 2.0 BENZ or Foxwell NT510 are both good tools around $150 on Amazon. You will get more use out of them than you think, and they will pay for themselves in avoiding the first trip to the shop.
