Hello everyone! I joined here to hopefully find a solution to my problem with my radio. I bought a 2013 c250 coupe. Car is solid and has around 65k miles. Ever since I bought it in the auction the car had the “Antitheft protection activated. Service required.” message on the screen. I was reading online that the message could show due to a low battery on either the car or remote. I replaced both the remote key battery as well as the car battery because it was very old and still got the message. I saw some videos online saying to hold the on/off button for 10 seconds which will reset the radio and every time I do that it opens for 2-3 seconds and then goes to the same antitheft code message again!
I wonder if the owner who had it before me swapped the radios or something as I can’t think of anything else. If the previous owner changed to another radio, could this other radio be unlocked by the dealership?

I would really appreciate any help on this!
If your W204 (Mercedes-Benz C-Class 2007-2015) radio is in anti-theft mode, it means that the radio has been locked due to a perceived theft attempt or a battery disconnection. To reset the radio and disable anti-theft mode, follow these steps:
1. Press and hold the "TP" or "TUNE" button.
2. While holding the button, turn the ignition switch to position "1" (accessory mode).
3. Release the button and wait for a few seconds.
4. The radio should now display a code entry prompt.
5. Enter the valid code (usually found in the owner's manual or on a sticker in the glove compartment).
6. If the code is correct, the radio will reset and anti-theft mode will be disabled.
If you don't have the code or if the procedure doesn't work, consult a dealer
It is unclear how the security PIN got erased, but it did. It would be really nice if @Sprinto steps worked. The PIN is 25 characters long and I'd be surprised if it is in your Operator's Manual. So, you may need to get the PIN from the dealer. The PIN is linked to the VIN.
With a proper Mercedes scan tool, if you detect DTC 9561, you will need to have someone with access to programming software (Vediamo) enter it in your COMAND/AUDIO Head Unit controller (A40/3).

It is unclear what the dealer may charge to re-activate your COMAND unit. As I said in my thread, I used the services of @BenzNinja to fix mine. You will need a Star Diagnostic System (SDS) so that he can remotely connect to your car. You can get the information you need at www.benzninja.com. He is also a sponsor of this site.

Thanks for your response but I don't see a TP or tune up button! Could you please show me where that would be? I added a pic of my radio just in case

I can only tune using the rotary selector knob on the shift console. Holding/pressing that down and turning the ignition switch to the accessories position (#1) and then releasing does nothing.
