Since I am not certain about any but the luxury model not having a sound tube, you may still need input from someone with a different version. It’s not impossible as MB uses a speaker in some later cars.
But do these things as they are fairly easy to do. 1-Look under the car and verify that the catalytic converter, resonator, and front and rear mufflers are still in place. Many people replace the resonator or final muffler when looking for sportier sound. 2-While there, make certain that none of the exhaust components are in contact with the underbody and all rubber isolators on the hangers are intact.
Also, all W204 sedans are poorly sound insulated from the rear wheel wells back. I added sound deadening pad to the rear wheel wells and the rear suspension shelf for an 8 dB improvement in interior noise on less than perfect road surfaces.
