Hi,
My check coolant level light came on so I took the car to the dealership on Saturday. They called today w/ the assessment. They said I had oil in the coolant tank and that the issue is the oil cooler failed allowing oil to get in. To fix the problem they wan't $4k to replace the oil cooler / thermostat and flush the coolant system twice. Does this sound reasonable?
Also when I took the car in I noticed a lil bit of a jerk when I'd accerlate at low speed - would this issue have caused that? I'm worried about sinking so much into the repair of a 2012.

I would find a good independent shop that KNOWS Mercedes and get an estimate. $4000 sounds high for a DIY job, depending on your car. The problem is if you have oil in the coolant, you probably have coolant in the oil, which is going to impact its lubricity. I would not drive the car until this gets repaired.
C300 sport, so im assuming you have the M272 engine?
I wonder if they are talking about the oil filter housing gaskets? These are a common issue with leaking, its not a question of if it will leak, its when they will leak. Mine was leaking oil, but only on the outside so i replaced them myself. The replacement gaskets were no more than $20, then 2 jugs of coolant and changed the oil. id say it cost me around $120 to do. Took me a few hours just because I took my time and cleaned everything while working on the car, I get sidetracked alot.
The oil filter housing has both coolant and oil running thru it, so if the gaskets fail internally they can mix together.
Heres what pops up when I search for "Mercedes W204 oil cooler".
