Coolant Leak, HELP

I got a small coolant leak from these 2 screws now this is the thermostat housing bolts, already tried washers, or ring around the metal part is clear, thermostat housing is brand new (2nd one actually) because it didn't look like the oem but still looking, what should I do or use?

I dont have that engine so I looked to see what the thermostat looks like. I cant see why coolant would be coming from those two screws unless the gasket and o-ring were bad or not the correct ones.

Did you torque the bolts down properly? Did you use Mercedes parts?

Everything's good, O rings, gaskets all brand new, but don't see how that would affect the bolt if everywhere else is good either. Their torqued, OEM like I said second thermostat housing had to buy thought the first was defective cause it did the same thing. But now that's not the issue

How bad is it leaking?

May be worth a try removing it, cleaning everything up really well then re-install it.

I looked closer at photos and would think if the o-ring were leaking then coolant would be showing up all around that line, not just at the bolt. Same with that other bolt, the gasket would have to be leaking and then I would assuming coolant would be coming out all around, not just at the bolt.

Yeah that's what I thought too, but the leak is from the bolt, might be dripping to the other bolt, hard to tell, is there anything I can put on the screw that'll sell it without having to keep taking a part and putting back in?

This would be kind of a back door fix, but if the coolant is actually coming up the threads, dip the bolt in white oil based paint. Make sure everything including the face of the bolt is covered in a thick coat. Then let it dry. When you screw it back in that should seal the threads and the head to the mating surface.

Got the oil based paint just in case and put in bolts but, deeply observed last night and noticed that the O ring is preventing it from fully going in tried quite a bit, don't want to break it, but also still won't explain how coolant is comming out the bolt, so
1. What is the safest way to get the peace all the way in?
2. What is the metal piece in case that o ring is too worn and causing a leakage with the new part due to it being new?

New o-rings can be quite stiff. Try to lubricate it with undiluted antifreeze then try to get it to seat by hand before putting the bolt in. If it’s not seating, that may be why you’re reaching the torque spec but it’s not sealing. If undiluted antifreeze doesn’t work, take it apart, dry everything, then try a thin coat of white silicone lubricant (no oil or grease!).

Not quite sure what you mean by point 2.

Are they genuine Mercedes parts, the o-ring? Is that bolt oriented on the bottom, so gravity runs the coolant down? I dont know how the photo is oriented. I dont see how coolant would be coming up the threads of those two bolts.

If they are maybe the o-ring wasnt seated in properly. I like to rub silicone lubricant on o-rings before installing them. Sometimes it just takes removing and reseating them.

My very old craftsman floor jack was leaking oil so i took everything apart to measure the o-rings to buy new ones. Oddly enough after putting everything back in the mean time the jack stopped leaking oil. I have new o-rings i ordered I havent bothered to install yet until it starts leaking.

I use Sil Glyde lubricant. Its good stuff.
