Power Steering Fluid

I have a 2008 C300 4Matic. I have read the forums on here with the other brands that are recommended, but I’d really like to use genuine fluid. I read a lot of debate between if MB 345.0 or 236.3 is correct for the power steering as well, but I couldn’t find any one clear answer.

Is this fluid the correct one to use? It has MB 345.0 approval in small font on the back. And for those of you who have “flushed” via extracting fluid from the reservoir, letting it mix, and then repeating, how much total fluid did you use? Should I get 2L to be safe or is just the one ok?

Last question as well, did our cars come with synthetic from factory? If I have to drain every last drop anyway, then that takes care of my previous question regardless.

just use Pentosin CHF-11s. It meets the 345.0 and is a very well known fluid. It is synthetic.

That genuine MB fluid is fine if you hate money.

That 236.6 spec is for much older cars up to around W202.

Don’t get it on your clothes! It smalls like oil of wintergreen. If you throw them in the washing machine it will give everything that sickly sweet smell for a week!

I used Pentosin CHF 11S. Used a large syringe to suck out old fluid from the reservoir then put new fluid in. I did this once a day until I went thru the container. Maybe I will do this once a year.

That's a pretty good method! Since my steering rack has a slow leak (for about six years, 40,000 miles), it needs a topper about every 5,000 miles or the turning gets a bit juddery, so continual fresh fluid for me.

I know people always **** on additives and such, but this is one additive that anybody who has actually looked into it, won’t argue that it works. Try some AT-205 seal conditioner in your fluid. It works wonders and you only need a tiny little bit of it. An 8oz bottle is right around 20 USD and can be used in any type of fluid besides brake.

No issues. Just don’t be ignorant like me and hold the container up against your chest while pulling out the spout.
