Rear light problem

How long have you owned the car?
When did this problem start?
Do the lights stay on permanently or do they turn off after a while?
Have you scanned the car for any faults?
You have 15-16 year old car. The first place I would start after scanning for faults would be with the light switch, checking for any corrosion.
There are too many choices for a C220 CDI in XENTRY. Can you provide your complete VIN?

I would also check the brake switch. It is locate under the dash and touching the brake pedal.

There are too many steps and tests to post here. I would get XENTRY and reach out to @BenzNinja (he is a banner advertiser -- check the Mercedes Tech Talk forum).

I have owned the car for little over year and the symptons started a week ago i do not believe in the brake switch because the additional brake light works but everything else is not working and the front lights respond well to the light switch.
i have not scanned the car for faults yet and the lights stay on until the car runs out of battery
and the VIN is WDD2042081F305260 if it is any help

OK, that makes sense about the brake light switch. Scanning for codes will be important. Make sure you are using a Mercedes-specific scanner. Generic OBD scanners are basically worthless when it comes to Mercedes. I will post some schematics.
