W204 C300 suspension change + coding
Love the look and how much it really makes it transform with the AMG pack.
This car had literally every possible option other than rear camera so that's been great.
1 However, it has the AMG sports suspension and the W204 does not have any comfort mode as the suspension is mcpherson struts and are fixed.
While it's tight on the highways and nice corners, and its a quick enough car for me, the smoothness in the rest of the area I'm in, as there a lot of pot holes and poor roads due to weather conditions, I actually would prefer the Avantgarde suspension and am thinking about swapping it out and wanted to get people's thoughts on this endeavour.
Ai's have advised changing the bushings and wheels and tires first, and then think about the suspension.
Cost might be 5k and the car cost under 20 but I'll have it for many years, probably 10, and I really am only interested in a 2018 facelift s63 with magic as the next car so going to just keep this. I could have bought a newer model car but I prefer these and always wanted it.
Would like to get people's perspective.
I also wanted to code permanent manual steering assist curve, sport throttle map, and faster manual shift response.
I was advised I'd need STAR/Xentry with Developer Mode enabled.
Should I consider anything else coding wise?
1. STAR/Xentry Developer Mode Coding - Performance/Feel Adjustments
Tools Required: STAR/Xentry with Developer Mode enabled (SDConnect C4/C5), ideally 05/2014 or newer.
A. Permanent Manual-Mode Steering Feel
Module: ESP (N30/4) - Electronic Stability Program
Menu Path: Control Unit Adaptations ? Control Unit Coding ? Steering Assist Characteristic
Change: Set to "Manual Program (M curve)"
Effect: Lighter, more agile steering feel at low/mid speeds, same as when in paddle/manual mode.
B. Faster Manual Shifts
Module: EGS (VGS-NAG2) - 7G-Tronic Transmission Control
Menu Path: Control Unit Adaptations ? Control Unit Coding ? Shift Characteristics
Change: Enable "Manual Performance" or "Reduced Shift Delay in Manual Mode"
Effect: Sharper, quicker paddle up/downshifts.
C. Sharper Throttle Response
Module: ME-SFI 276 - Motor Electronics (M276 V6)
Menu Path: Control Unit Adaptations ? Special Functions ? Coding ? Characteristic Maps
Change: Set "Throttle Characteristic" to "Sport" or "Sport+"
Effect: More immediate acceleration response at all times.
Post-Coding Checks:
Cycle ignition OFF ? ON.
Drive test: steering feel should match manual mode without touching paddles.
Test paddle shifts - latency should be reduced.
Light throttle inputs should feel more eager.
