2014 W204 C300 popular variant coding tips




IMPORTANT SAFETY & LEGAL DISCLAIMER (READ FIRST)
This guide is for educational and off-road/track-use purposes only.
Incorrect coding can cause CAN-bus errors, permanent faults, limp mode, immobilizer lockouts,
or “bricked” modules requiring dealer recovery.
Changes may affect warranty, emissions compliance (US EPA/CARB), DOT/FMVSS lighting
legality, or vehicle safety systems.
US-spec 2014 models have built-in restrictions; aggressive DRL, torque, or lighting tweaks can
throw faults or fail inspections.
Always use a stable 13.5–14.5 V battery charger. Always read & backup the full coding
string/hex before every change. Test one parameter at a time, cycle ignition twice, clear DTCs,
and road-test.
Reversible by restoring your backup + SCN reset.
Professional coding service or Xentry with developer access is strongly recommended if you
are not experienced with Vediamo/DTS Monaco.

Tools, .cbf Files & SCN Notes
Tools: Vediamo or DTS Monaco for offline variant coding; Xentry for full SCN coding butt coding is limited on Xentry offline.
SCN (online Mercedes server sync) is mandatory after any module replacement.
Offline workaround: read old module’s full coding string and write it to the new one + SKGT simulation if needed.
Always: Stable 13.5–14.5 V power, backup every string, one change at a time, ignition cycle 2×, clear DTCs.
ALWAYS! Use Xentry or something similar to go see your can buss and get the correct .CBF or
.Smr-D files to access modules on your car. They are not all the same so get the module name and be sure to use the correct one.
Front SAM (SAM-F) – Most Popular for Lighting & Convenience
Controls headlights, fogs, mirrors, wipers, central locking, etc. Hardware: SAMF_204.cbf (facelift 172 series). SCN required after replacement. US Note: DRL combos restricted by DOT.
