Fuel smell in Cabin Help Cannot find it
Never smells when not running.
People can smell it from 30 meters away. Cant find the leak, cleaned everything looking for it. Two mechanics have looked everywhere.
Any advice on where to look ?
Thank you,
Karl

With the engine running does the gas smell seem to be coming from in the engine bay? Not the gas tank under the rear seat? Not under the car from the fuel line?
You may not see a liquid gas leak, could be just the vapors. Like leaving a gas container open in a shed and it stinks of gas.
Usually a leak in the purge/evap system would show a fault code, purge valve, charcoal canister, even gas cap.
Could use the scanner to check fuel pressures. Im not familiar with the compressor engine, may be a low and a high fuel pressure.
Can always try a UV dye to try and detect the fuel leak. But if you do I recommend using a UV light and look all around the engine bay first to see what it looks like in there. I used a dye in my engine oil only to realize the oil I use glows green on its own nevermind with a dye in it, so for me it was useless.
Thankyou for your detailed reply.
Fuel smell only when engine is running, found a leak in the injector gasket and had all injectors seals replaced and the seals to the injection rail.
Smell is not always there. if parked level over night there is no smell. When aprked facing up the hill there is a string smell right away. there is no visible leak or stains.
Thanks for the suggestion of the fuel dye, i will try that for sure.
Kindest Regards,
Karl

Person has the M271 and had gas fumes in the engine bay. I believe it turned out to be the crankcase breather check valve, Post# 24 in there thread.
Have you gone on the MBUSA website and entered your VIN in to see if there were any recalls or campaigns for your specific car?
Here is a link to the specific campaign about the "engine vent hose": https://lemon-manuals.la/Mercedes%20...oses/Overview/
But that one looks to be 2003-2005 vehicles.
