W204 Key fob won't open and close. The car won't start.
Hi
Wondering could anyone point me in the right direction.
My key fob won't open and close doors. When I try to start the car the dashboard lights are dead. They come on when I open the door but the dash goes dark after 30 secs.
The key turns in the ignition but nothing happens.
The main battery is good and the key fob appears to be working ( New battery. Red light flashing and IR can be seen on camera)
It appears to be two different issues. I've read the key fob has notthing to do with the starting of the car.

But maybe you have only 1 problem.
Check the battery voltage with a multimeter. You say it’s good, but don’t say how you know. It should be 12.6 V or higher. If it is 11.8 V or below, there is a system in the car that disconnects power using devices to preserve starting power. However, if the battery reaches 10.8 V it’s not even going to try to start.
After you verify that battery voltage is okay, then the car needs to be scanned with a Mercedes dedicated scan tool. If the battery is good, the failure to start could be a bad ignition switch (EIS), but you must begin with a good battery for proper diagnosis.
