Check engine light (fault code: 3406)
My w204 (2007) C200K with 150K mileage got a check engine light on a few weeks ago, with fault code 3406 (The position of the exhaust camshaft (cylinder bank 1) deviates from the specified value). I suspected the stretched timing chain, but my mechanic found the engine oil level too low, which was strange as the oil was changed about a couple months ago. Anyway, he topped up, and did a couple of test drive, and told me no engine light on anymore. So, I picked it up and did a bit of driving over the weekends (about 80km in total) and the check light back again on Sunday morning with the same fault code. I checked the engine oil level, which seemed to be fine to me, and brought back the car to the mechanic. Recently I observed some rpm gauge fluctuating in the morning start and have noticed some oils on the bottom of the exhaust (as attached). So there seem to be some oil leaks. Any comment or advice would be greatly appreciated.
