New C-class Engines?

New C-class Engines?
Has anyone heard if MB is going to drop the 1.8 in favor of the 2.3L V6 for 2006. I am debating on whether I should get an 05 this summer or wait for the 06. I love the car but I am not as thrilled about the 1.8 4-liter as I would be about the 2.3 V6. Test drove the 1.8 and it has decent power but I felt that it was kinda lacking off the line.

I would suggest you to wait because it is almost March now. 3 months to build a car will bring you to June. Usually the '06 cars will arrive in July.

MB is reportedly surprised at the interest in 4 cylinder Benzos. I know the C240 and C320 are toast...C350 replacing the C320. Personally, if you can't wait another year, or hate the new W204 styling(I do- its bland, and sadly asian looking), I'd dial up a loaded C350.
so, wut really is the OFFICIAL w204?....i've seen different styles and indicating that its w204.....
..any help??...maybe the official pix?

I also thought the chart on this link was interesting:

New engines
While the new 4-valve 3.5 engine has been out for some time, and is now finding its way into the full line [M, S, CLK, SLK, C, E], I've been waiting for the rest of the family to be unveiled. MB put out a press release as part of their Geneva show package that fills in the rest of the V6 engines with the new heads.
http://www.germancarfans.com/news.c...sid/2050223.006 See bottom of the page, last item listed.
As usual, the model designations can't be depended on to precisely tell you displacement - note, though, that even the "C230" [which will have, what, 2.3, 2.4, 2.5 actual displacement? Who knows?] makes over 200 hp. These engines combined with the new 7 spd automatics should make everyone happier who noted how far BMW and the Japanese seemed to be pulling ahead, especially in the "entry" level represented by the C.
I wouldn't be surprised to see them drop the 1.8 SC 4 cylinder altogether for the US market, and just go with the "C230" V6 and the "C350" V6....or maybe the "C280" as the entry level. In any case, performance should be up across the board.
The combination of the new heads and the new trans means that you get the best of both worlds - more power and lower fuel use.

I've had another source confirm the following:
-"C230" is a 2.5 V6 [as noted, a bit over 200 hp]
-"C280" is a 3.0 V6
-Very likely the 4 cyl will be dead meat in the US market when the '06s arrive with the new V6s in the fall.
C350 is likely to be automatic only; whichever is the entry level here [C230 or C280] will be available with both the 6 spd manual and 7 spd automatic.
This should tide the W203 over until the W204 appears. Scheduled release date for the W204 is mid-year 2007 in Europe, with the car appearing here as an '08 in the fall of '07.

The new w204 coupe and convertible (sp) reminds me of an acura. Its those headlights. As for the sedan, I'm in love with it. Just wish I had the money to buy it when it comes out.

C 230K Coupé
Uhm i think u guys missed that the link https://mbworld.org/forums/showthread.php?t=75094
clearly says that those are the 07's. The body isn't getting changed in 06, there was another thread that already showed the new 06 mercedes, which look pretty much the same i think as the current ones. The coupe and the sedan will both be available with the new c350's. Not sure if they will be available with 6speed manual (oh i hope they do!) but they will be using a 7 speed auto for sure . I have no idea if they will be keeping the c230 kompressor though. I'd wait for the 06 c350's, i would die for a coupe wit 270 horses stock :v
