Run Flats

I went to order mine and when we configured it and printed out the spec's and options item R66 Extended Mobility Tires (aka Run Flats) are standard equipment. There was no option for regular tires or a mini spare. I hope it will be a future option. I cancelled my order. I reside in the USA and this was at an Authorized Dealer. This was on both a C300 and C400 did not matter.

wow, funny! "selling OUT" implies stock depletion, not PRE orders

they aren't' even out yet (hence, no 'stock'). car salesmen can be crazy sometimes

how might the ride on a 2015 c class be if you are driving on run flat tires with the 19inch multi-spoke alloys?

Dealers get a set number of production allocation spots per month to fill with customer orders. It could be the dealer was saying his/her production allocation was selling out, which wouldn't be that far-fetched for the launch of a refreshed model line.

Yup, that's what he meant, ddarko.

I still found it hilarious that he was pushing the car on me despite not knowing the basics like whether it had RFTs or not.

The dealer probably thinks it's stupid that someone would give a crap about what tires come on the car... Considering that tires are a consumable item.

If you wanted the car you would buy it. If it came with RFTs you would change it. 9/10 dealers would change the tires at the consumers request for free.
It's not rocket science.

I agree that they will change the tires but then I still wouldn't have a spare
or room for one.

Are run flats standard across the globe? I can't imagine there not being spare wheel well if a non run flat option was available.

edit: Just found this....

http://moba.i.daimler.com/baix/cars/...er_13_76.shtml

Apparently there's a "tyre fit kit" available for non RFT equipped cars. I'm not exactly sure what that means though.

According to Canadian order guide posted by mmret (thanks mmret) all Canadian c class will have run flats. Coming from the Alabama plant I wouldn't be surprised if the US vehicles are all run flats too.
