Ordered my C400 today

Been lurking here for a while, but haven't had much to say until now. I put down a deposit and did a factory order today. They said mine is schedule for 3rd week in August. I still have time to change things if wanted.

C400
Diamond White
Charcoal Nappa Leather Interior
Airmatic
Interior Package (illuminated door sills, power passenger seat with memory, heated and ventilated seats, ambient lighting)
Lighting Package (Intelligent Highbeam Control, Dynamic LED Headlights)
Multimedia Package (Rearview Camera, COMAND w/nav and voice control_
Keyless Go Package (Hand Free Access, Electronic trunk Closer)
Driver Assistance Package (Distronic plus, active blind assist, active lane keeping assist, rear impact warning, distronic plus with steering assist, pre-safe plus)
Manual Rear Seat Window Sun Shade
Heads Up Display
Power rear window sunshade
Black Piano Trim & aluminum Trim
18 inch AMG 7 spoke
Air Balance Package

I still have time to change things, and the few things I'm still not 100% on are:

The piano black finish, the new lindon wood is too light and the open pore black is nice but after seeing an open pore brown wood one it looks dull to me

I am 50/50 on the airmatic, I am going more for comfort and I live in the city with rough roads, but I want to be abel to throw it around a little when i drive it harder

I would have gone 19 with performance tires, but again I live in the city and roads can get rough

Either way a HUGE upgrade from my 2010 Jetta which I do like.

I didn't know there were such thing as Keyless GO package. At least I didn't see it in the order guide that I saw. I thought they were individual options. Or was this updated recently?

Nope it's not. It's $1190 package that includes AGILITY SELECT and AIRMATIC air suspension.

I have the April 17th order guide but I do not see code 389. Do you have the later version? If yes, can you send me that information? Thanks. I'll PM you.

You should get the pano roof. If you ever plan to have rear seat passengers, the pano roof is added luxury.

I'm so confused. I have no idea what the C400 comes standard with, I don't know if the airmatic has been tuned to be slightly more sporty, if the transmission has been remapped, what's standard, what's not, etc.

The ordering guide tells you what is standard. You can tune the airmatic yourself, not sure why they'd need to retune it. No difference in transmission from the other 2015 C classes. I've been following for a while and most everything you are asking has been answered

I'd skip the Airmatic.

If you're after a more sport-oriented ride, especially.

Very Nice! Congrats on the order. I think I will end up ordering something very similar in AMG form.
The park assist in not necessary but it is kind of cool watching the car move the steering wheel while you sit and do nothing. lol

Did you read his initial post. He clearly stated that he wanted "more comfort."

Yeah this is my first venture into MB so I didnt go AMG this time. AMG maintenance can get pricey, my friend has an S63 with the Lorinser package and its like $3k an axle for a brake job lol. I love driving a little hard every now and then, but I doubt the airmatic in sport + will bother me much and I'm sure it handles better then my 2010 Jetta which is a great car. But living in the city I think I'd like the airmatic.

-Airmatic has been accused of having a lack of handling, being busy in Pre production models and Mercedes apparently was working on improving the tunin of Sport+. The Transmission in the C400 was apparently very rough and more hesitant than other W205 engine models, again, complaint was made to Mercedes, and a remap is issued according to guys on the board. We don't know if they will improve on the pre production models faults, most likely they will. This was what I was talking about.

My C400

I ordered a very similar C400 2 weeks ago with iridium silver with charcoal nappa leather, and black ash open pore trim, 19 inch multi spoke wheels (black with polished surfaces). I loaded it with all packages, including active park assist, but didn't get the pana roof. I wanted the extra headroom and have never used the moon roof in my current car.

I was disappointed that the 360 surround camera was not available since it's mentioned in every article I've read, including the MB press release. I wonder what happened.

I too have until maybe July to make changes as more information becomes available about the exact capabilities of the systems become more clear.

I originally was looking at an E Class but didn't want to buy a car at the end of its design cycle. My wife wanted a smaller car anyway and the new C Class is a little bigger than the old and has the same or better technology package as the current E.

W205 C200 (Petrol) Sport Premium Plus
I've read that MB has a problem with the sat nav interfering with the 360 degree camera and they're working on a fix which should be available for 2015 build cars.

This thread has an extensive discussion about the pros and cons of the W205 airmatic suspension: http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/gener...uspension.html

The very well sourced German site Mercedes Passion Blog is saying that the 360 camera was found to interfere with the navigation system. All existing orders for the 360 option were changed to the rearview camera.

No delivery of C-Class sedans (W205) with 360-degree camera in 2014 # W205 # 360 degrees
by Mark Jordan | May 7, 2014
For 2014, Mercedes-Benz is no C-Class sedan deliver with 360 degree camera (code 501). A first angedachte delivery in the fourth quarter of 2014 will not take place.

No delivery of the 360-degree camera in 2014
, the 360 ° camera (code 501) for the Mercedes-Benz C-Class Saloon (W205) will no longer be available in 2014, vehicles with the ordered option earlier in the year delivered in 2015. Alternatively, however, currently only the Parking Package with rearview camera (code P44 +218) can be ordered, which is available for 1225.70 Euros, then neither a panoramic view possible nor a subsequent upgrade of the 360 ° camera and its function. Vehicle orders with a calculated delivery in 2014 will be automatically deleted in the order, the code 501.
Alternative: Rearview Camera with Parking Package P44 +218
One reason for the delayed delivery is probably an electromagnetic disturbance in the mirror camera with the navigation system, already delivered cars get this, probably a new camera (appropriate service action is here in preparation).

Too bad about the 360 camera not being available. It does make me wonder if there are any other surprises coming before production starts.

The driver assistance package (997) appears identical to the S Class, and cost the same, $2,800. MB customer support has told me that the C Class will have the latest versions of all systems, but one has to wonder since the 360 camera was deleted;

Does DISTRONIC PLUS with steering assist (233-266) include stop and go pilot?

Does Parktronic with Active Parking Assist (235) include steering AND brake control?

Does the Rearview Camera have active guidance lines?

Does the pre-safe brake and BAS plus include pedestrian detection?

Hopefully MB will get this info on the web soon.

WTH? Did you read the posts above yours. You do realize that none of the systems you mentioned use the cameras in the side mirrors right?
Also the fact that all of those systems you mentioned have been around before MB introduced the 360 view.

Yes. I know those systems don't use the cameras from the 360 system. Thank you MB-Jim and ddarko. That info was very helpful. Neither my dealer nor MB customer support could provide it.

My concerns or questions about the other systems are unrelated to my original comment about the 360 camera. Sorry about the confusion.

Those systems have been enhanced over time with improved capabilities. Just trying to confirm I'm getting all the functionality I expect. For instance, originally Parktronic assist only offered guidance, then steering was added, and finally braking. Pedestrian detection and cross traffic assists was also added in later versions of Presafe Brake and BAS Plus. Some versions of the rearview camera have no guidelines, some have static guidelines, and some have active guidelines. Getting the exact functionality and capability in the new C Class has been difficult. This discussion is very helpful.

These systems are all new to me. I've been a Lexus customer for many years. This is my first Benz.
