sooo...the question is, will it be available as an upgrade for this year's buyers at a later time? that would be crazy if 2015 models were "locked out" of having it, ever. it's obviously a software and/or firmware situation, so future upgradability to carplay seems feasible, right?

Seriously. It didn't look as if the tech was fully developed in the first place. The tech was there, but it wasn't as pretty as Apple likes to finish their software and display etc., I seriously hope there is an update big time. Given they Probrably developed the systems to handle Carplay and it's updates, I'm almost, almost sure it will be available. It will push a ton of people away if it isn't.

I believe this is a continuation of the inability of MB to integrate new electronic systems. The fact that the 360 degree camera system isn't going to be available is sad. It works fine in my GLK but once they put in a new system it brings up integration problems they haven't taken care of. I believe this is what has happened to the iPhone integration.

what's next i wonder (lol? actually, i'm upset - that's harsh..a little disappointed for sure)
360 and carplay are two of the technologies i was actually looking forward to (and could actually afford)
the lane keep, park assist, blindspot, etc. is neat and all, but i wouldn't even use that stuff, let alone pay for it at the premium they charge. i don't have it now, and don't need it.
360 camera...i don't even have a backup camera and very much wish i did - 360=even better
carplay...i'm always pulling out my phone for imaps because it's my favorite gps

I'm going to guess that it's delayed because of legal reasons, have to make sure all the functionality is compliant with driving laws across all states and provinces.
I had a chance to use the system in the C at the New York show, it's very polished and works awesome. That photo was shot by me during the demo.

My parents got theirs in the 2nd model yr, but, my God, those brakes were a nightmare.... I'd rather MB delay the features to get them working right. The PR nightmare from faulty flagship technology is not worth it (not to mention how annoying it is for owners).
