Order Discount ?
Has anyone in the US placed an order for the W205 model yet? Were you able to get any discount or freebies at all from the dealer ? If so how many percent?
I figure the dealer will not negotiate at all since it is a new model unless one wait 6 months after the car is released.

from various sources on the net, I've read that an "ordered" car can be negotiated just like any other car, and you're not committed to buying it after it arrives (you may lose a deposit, not sure about that part).
thing is, once the car is on the lot, it's just another brand new, probably nicely cofigured vehicle like all the others. they could easily sell it to anyone. there's basically a group of people (heck, maybe one) that are deciding what combinations and packages are most likely wanted and will sell. it's not necessarily "yours" unless you buy it. you basically just made a decision on what one of the cars on the lot is going to be like.
like you said, the only reason they wouldn't budge would be the fact it's a brand new model, but that depends on how it's selling. if they can't keep them on the lot, then yes they won't budge. if there's boat load of them on the lot once they're released, AND they are selling average at best, then you can start negotiating.
if you REALLY want to build the car exactly to your specs AND expect to get a deal, wait a few months (like you said), then order.

im in the same boat but i dont want to wait 6 months. by the time i wait 6 months, the c450 will probably be out, then ill want that...then the cycle will start all over again...then if i wait 6 months to get on deal on that, the c63 will be starting to come out...etc.

I understand that of course the dealers are more likely to negotiate if one waits for a few months after the car is out or if the car is selling average.
But the problem is you know this car will sell well because it is MB's bread and butter car. Plus, this is a first year of the new design.
Which bring me to the point that I want to find out , and that is if anyone ALREADY placed an order and was able to negotiate any discount at all ?

true! but...you're talking $5000 to $10000 jumps in price (even more for the amg probably). this is going to happen whether you get a "deal" or not
being a mercedes, i'm speculating prices here, but I think we all know the price differences aren't going to be "subtle"!
that's just a decision you'll have to make for yourself. personally, I'd be happy in a c300 with a few necessary (to me) options, like P1 and backup camera, MAYBE interior package (get a leather MB for once). there's plenty of standard features this time around, especially on the c400, that I could be happy with almost anything. the optional wood trim is fairly inexpensive vs. how it makes the interior look. you can mod later with bigger wheels and tires, and still be driving a beautiful machine.
of course I want a full blown amg with all options, that's just never gonna happen for me. I can't justify the price personally (on a car). my c250 is 2013, black on black with burl interior. I had a loaner with grey interior and aluminum trim. OMG it felt so 'bland' and 'dead' inside. having the right combo of color and trim makes all the difference inside.
outside, easy mods can be had like tire and wheel upgrade, as well as aftermarket fitted body parts. debadge it (if that's your style), and eventually, NOONE will know what you're driving, lol.
i realize that performance of the the actual model you're driving will differ, but to me, it's all about looks and comfort. a fully loaded c400 can look exactly the same as a c300 with the sport and interior package. once again, it comes down to performance at that point. c450 and amg are obviously beasts in their own regard, but once again, I'm more about the core elements of what I'm driving.
that's why I got a c250 instead of the c350. exactly the same on the inside, exact same fit and finish, just different engines and probably different standrd equipment.

does mb REALLY not know what the US price is going to be (or, what's the strategy for holding that info from us if they DO know the price???)....a little silly

Received discount
unfortunately, as far as I can tell, the MSRP still isn't out for the US, which means you can't make a deal on it without a price per-se. the only thing I can think of is if someone negotiated a percentage off of the final price, but I would think that's unlikely. I think it's crazy that US dealers are taking "orders" and the msrp still isn't available!

A lot of dealers will not even talk about the discounts because this is a whole new model and they know that this C class is going to be huge hit. But I ordered C400 with almost full package and received discount from this dealer in Annapolis, MD. The SA name is Casey Duffy and I contacted him since January because I saw his name on one of the forum and had great reviews about him.
Although the base price is not released yet for C300 and C400, he promised to give me discounts and some gifts on top of that. I live in Virginia and contacted many dealers and some dealers offered me $1000, one dealer offered me $2000 but they were not kind enough to keep me in business. I'm sure there are other dealers out there where they will give you more discounts but I decided to stick around and purchase from Casey.
I already asked him if it's okay to mention his name and he said I could. so here is his contact.

thanks for the info! some folks look for dealer invoice type deals, hence the hard cost inquiries that people are seeking (what the msrp and invoice are going to be). $2000 off msrp is pretty good, especially for those of us who really want it
#9
From what I know, invoice is usually 7% off of msrp. Assuming the base price for C400 is 46000, $2000 is about 4% off and I think that's as close you can get for this car if you want to get it ASAP.

sounds about right. a c400 would be freakin' sweet. i'm into electronics as well, and the term 'early adopter' comes to mind (i'm that!! lol)
even at full price, this car is going to be amazing I can't wait to test drive one. I haven't bought a car in a long time that's completely and utterly wowed me, I hope that this is the one that does

Do you have any clue when they'll release the price?
Do you know when they'll add night package to the ordering guide?
Do you know if they'll add 360 degree camera this year? I heard there are some technical difficulties.

im also on the east coast and my dealer wouldnt budge on price. you are making me want to cancel my order and give that guy a call to re-order the same exact car with him instead.

you really think a c400 will be that much? yikes thats scary because i have 1 on order. i was hoping around 42k-43k.

It will definitely be less than. CLA45 which is around $47,500.

ill have to make quite a long trip to pick my car up when it finally is ready. wonder if that would be worth the $1500 savings

Where do you live? It'll be a 2 hour drive for me too but I think it's worth it since he's been really good to me and I'm sure he'll do the same for you too. Just mention you heard his name from Brian and he'll know.

$$$ off is what I want to know right now knowing MSRP is not out yet. $1000-1500 is what I would expected as of this moment. Hopefully, more people will chime in once they have placed the order. Especially if they are in L.A./SoCal.

It' funny how people think I'm making up stories.
Why would I lie about me getting discounts.
I gave you guys sales person's information and all you need to do is contact him about the discounts. If he says yes, then cancel your existing order from other dealer. It's simple as that.

I've placed an order but without the car being here I don't see how you can reasonably negotiate...typically this process involves you "committing" to buying the car...yeah I'm not gonna do that until I see it in-person.

I don't see why you can not negotiate since the price is known.

Genuine question, but what does seeing or driving it in-person have to do w/ negotiating the price? Presumably you decide whether you want to buy the car AT ALL based on the test drive.... But driving the car itself has nothing to do w/ how much you actually pay....
#24
I think you hit the nail on the head...you said "you decide whether you want to buy the car AT ALL based on the test drive". Well then if you haven't driven it then you're really not sure you're actually going to buy the car...and if you're not sure what's the point of negotiating? So let's see you've just wasted your time and that of a salesperson negotiating on a car that you haven't driven or seen...and you may end up not buying it at all...good luck with that. And if I'm the dealership and someone wanted to negotiate "before" the car arrived...I'm asking for a non-refundable deposit...just to see how serious they really are.

So do people negotiate the price after the ordered car arrive ?
I have known people who negotiate the price when they placed the order for various cars. I guess these are the people who know that they want the car.
