Will these rust like the last gen?

I wonder if MB has figured out yet to prevent their cars from rusting yet? MB has a history of rusting cars from the S-class, E-Class, B-Class and C-class. Just hope they haven't cheapened out on the metal. Anyone know if the new C-class is double galvanized metal like BMW and Audi?

Don't think so, bodywork is mainly aluminum

Mercedes has been using galvanized zinc coated metal since the w201. So what are you talking about? I'm not sure.

Actually the C-class was not properly galvanized until sometime during the W203 years, I want to say 2003-2004, IIRC. The early W203s have rust problems. As do earlier W220 cars.

I have not heard of rust issues on the W211 or W204 at all, so I don't know what he's talking about there.

Not sure what you guys are talking about but here are some threads of rusting out MB W204 but definitely lot less than the w203.

Galvanized metal surely helps if done correctly but means cr@p all if done incorrectly.

Considering some of the glaring errors in the first thread (regarding SA and DE production differences, of which there arent...) I don't have much confidence in the second.

There are one-offs with every car. The W204 does not have a history of rust...

I hope you are correct. I find rust to be the worst of the worst. Mechanical problems you can fix but rust is a killer. I have a few friends who still drive their rusted out C-class because they can't trade it or sell it. No one wanted it. Luckily I got rid of my W203 before it started to rust and same with my E-class. The S-class was a different story and MB paid almost $20,000 in in just repairs and new panels. By the time I traded the S-Class in only the hood was original. LOL

Amen... there are few things worse for a car fan than finding automotive cancer on your car.

Mercedes c400
I started seeing rust on my w205 on both sides above the rear wheels just where the curve shape ends which is strange. Bought the car as new from mercedes dealership and then they come up with an excuse telling me that this car has been painted at a private shop.
