4matic

The new C300/400 is only being released in 4matic this year and so far it's generated some excitement. If the car will not be subjected to snow/icey conditions are there any advantages in having 4matic? I pre-ordered one...and besides just "wanting" a new C...I was hoping you guys who have a 4matic or ordered one could shed some light on this for me...thanks!

I think in the C400, it makes sense since it is difficult to put all that power and torque to just the rear wheels. From a stop, you would probably get a faster 0-60 time, better start off the line. The 4matic here is still rear biased

I'd wait for the C400 Non 4matic ! Get the extra HP's and pass up on the 4matic especially since the pricing would hopefully cool down by the time the non 4matics are released ???

I know it was a bad winter last but honestly there's 6 or more inches of snow what 5 to 10 days a year ?? Call out sick or work from home on those days and save $$$ !! I for one would let it sit and use my MDX instead

Actually I'm "from" NYC...living in Vegas now...that's why I'm curious if a 4matic carries any advantages besides inclement weather. There's a C400 coming in that I have my eye on.

Since there is no rain in Vegas either - then no, I see no advantage to it really. I wouldn't get it if I lived in Vegas.

Better ability to put down the power off the line? I'm thinking that with the hp and torque ratings on the C400 being 300+ it won't be too hard to get the traction light to come on when flooring off the line or doing aggressive turns. But of course it all depends how you drive the car, RWD would be more than sufficient for most people to get the car going.

C400s are only coming as 4matic.

You only have the choice of RWD on the C300

4matic is an option on the c400, check the configurator. They will only have 4matics available at first though. This has been known for a while now.

Sorry sorry sorry, these dang matic things drive me nuts. I meant airmatic, my apologies. For many months everyone said the c400 only has airmatic, but it is an option not standard.

Yeah I actually knew the c400 had teh all wheel only, I just mixed up the terms in my head. I actually did op for the airmatic anyway. My build is $64k ouch. This is my first Mercedes too. My boss has an S63 AMG with the Lorinzer package. Sweet ride. I could actually buy it from him used for the price I am paying for this one lol. But h told me over and over you will never go back once you get one.
