Garmin Map-Pilot vs COMAND
Is COMAND worth the upgrade? With separate "rear view camera" option at $460 and Garmin Map Pilot at $600, already paying over $1000, is COMAND worth additional $1600?
Is COMAND prerequisite for Apple Car Play?

Same here, need to know if COMAND is really required for Car Play.

There is an article saying Carplay requires COMMAND system.

According to this article, CarPlay requires COMAND system. Looks like I have to spend additional 2k!
Keep in mind that the operating system comes on top of the native Mercedes-Benz Comand and is only available if you own an iPhone 5, 5S or 5C

I know Hyundai has explicitly announced that Nav is required on the Sonata in order to get CarPlay, but haven't seen any other manufacturer explicitly announce this yet.

any answers?
So my question, is the package apart from the big 8.4 screen navigation and Rear View camera worth while to consider?
Rearview camera
COMAND hard-drive navigation with 8.4-inch screen
3 years of navigation map updatesVoice control
SiriusXM Traffic and Weather with 3 years of service
10GB Music Register
Gracenote media database
I also remember reading it has Dolby Digital 5.1?
Does the Garmin Map Pilot (the $600 options) come with free updates? and does it hook with the HUD?

Here Garmin comes without map updates (you can only update maps in the first few months in order to bring them to the latest release) but with unlimited FW updates (SW fixes). Nevertheless updating it manually and also importing POIs and speedcams should be quite simple.
I ordered my W205 with the tech pack that includes rear wiew camera and Garmin for €900 and I should be fine with it (I only use satnav few times a month and I need the camera in order to park my MB in my narrow garage). Moreover you can use an USB pendrive (mine is 16 GB) for music and videos, so an HD could not necessarily be a must, as Car Play actually isn't for those not using any of Cupertino's devices, as me.

And finally one of the best voice controls in the industry. IMO its a bargain.

I do think its well worth the money. First the screen is larger thus better visibility. You get the rear camera, well worth the money on its own as a bonus, the camera quality is first rate. In addition you get all the additional command functionality that is not available in the garmin. I would get it just for the camera alone given that even a little rear bumper mishap can be thousands of dollars, not to mention running over a kid.

well, no carplay for me, no apple for me . better than the pendrive for me is the bluetooth streaming, more ease in terms of keeping my collections
@c4004matic
rear view cam, is always an option so that with the Garmin is 1000, and from what I understand it's better to either get a stand alone garmin or the mm pack.
Why would you say the voice control is the best? the only thing which changes is the speech learning I believe right? and NLP - natural language processing?
another thing that I have seen is that the Merc C class is quite pricey compared to most of its competitors including packages.
Similar pack on the BMW with HUD costs about 3150.
could you also tell me what all things come in this pack in more details?

What do you mean by "updating it manually"?
Thanks
