When I try to build my car, I can't find an option that says 360 degree camera. Is that the same as the rearview camera in the Multimedia Package?

 

Unfortunately no 360 camera, and unlikely for 2015 C class. Apple car play also delayed. Maybe in 2016.

 

The E-class can be had with a surround view camera system, right? (In the US I mean).

 

Rear view camera is available but not the 360 camera for the current C class

You may not be aware that it was supposed to be available on the W205 c class, and it was available on early non-north american builds, but they discovered problems with interference between the camera and the Nav system, so it was removed indefinitely. Hence why you may see it around online but it is not available to order now... Presumably when they resolve the issue it will become available again but it's anyone's guess when that will be....

 

That's odd, I've mentioned it to the dealer and he said for 2015 delivery dates it should not be a problem getting it.

This is for C400 and he said it comes part of Premium Package (For Canada)

 

Yeah the salesman I talked to said the same thing. But sadly I didn't have much confidence that he was aware of any problems with the camera

Exactly my thoughts as well. Carplay was also supposed to be available at launch and we know how that turned out. I wouldn't hold your breath. It wouldn't surprise me if they came back and said that it will be available for 2016 model year. Would you be willing to wait that long?

 

Be careful. I've heard that sometimes the MB order system will allow you to select the option but it gets dropped from the order at build time. So you think you're getting it but it show up without.

I don't want to wait til 2016 for 360 camera. But I will wait if I have to because this is not an easy retrofit or upgrade-after-purchase. On the other hand, Apple CarPlay I hope will be a software upgrade that should be upgradable after purchase

 

When I was first told by another salesperson that the 360 was no longer available he mentioned that the 180 was still an option. That turned out to be wrong. When I told him that it was an important option he immediately told me I should be looking at the E Class instead.
I am wondering now if this is was an MB decision to remove some of the features they originally promised for the C Class to give the E Class some sales until the update?
It is not logical to say it has interference issues when its been available and still is in other regions.


However if this is some sort of update for the North American market where we get the ability to record the 360 view to a 64GB SD Card on some sort of continuous 2 hour loop. Now that Dash Cams are getting into the market here in North America this would be one way of doing it without have something stuck to your windshields and all those wires Wishful thinking on my part... Listen up Mercedes

 

I am definately planning a retrofit once my car arrives, strangely enough there are no 360 parts at all available for the S205 (yet?), the W205 however has all the parts needed accessable.
Same story with wiring diagrams.


The drawback is that the parts are very expensive, each camera cost the equivalent of USD 850, the control unit is around 900 and the wiring needed is another 600
You also need new fastners and covers for the mirrors, grill and rear lid.

 

You will have to do a step by step how to video as you do this upgrade.
Do you have links to the wiring diagram for this project?

 

what does the 360 cam do? why do you guys want it so bad? i watched the video. it shows the outside of the car?

 

For some, its the nerd factor. For others, myself included, who couldn't option it sadly at the time, it was to help navigate tight spaces where I couldn't see down the sides of the car. I live in a big city, spaces are tight for parking even navigating around some streets is somewhat heart in mouth at times not knowing where each corner of the car is exactly. Without it, I'll just go slower and be more careful!

 

To be honest, 360 camera is not that useful. With passenger side mirror tilt on reverse, it's more than enough for parallel parking and making sure your rims arent scratched.

But personally, I was sold on the fact the new C would have it, but only to find out at delivery that it would not be included!

 

I've ordered a w205 in UK a couple of weeks ago *with* 360 camera. Was told car will be built in June and cam will be available. From other posts here, sounds like I'll know when I collect the car! Anyway I can find out sooner?

 

If you can order it with the camera, it will come with the camera. If I ordered without the camera (which I did) I was told end of March delivery (two weeks and counting) If I ordered with camera, I was told June delivery.

As I need the car and could get everything but the camera, I just dropped it from the list.

 

I've got finally delivered my C250 Bluetec with 360 camera in UK And I must say I am sooo happy I have it !!! Parking super easy

Yes I've got it, but just got car today so need some time to get a honest opinion. At the moment very comfy on all modes and car sits low so very happy at the moment.

Can I ask how you managed to get 360 camera, I am in Australia and have been told by all of the WA dealers that the 360 option isn't available in Australia.. however, UK both right hand drive and you could option it.
