Does the new SD card somehow become attached to the car that it was used on for the first time, or can it move to another car?

The (garmin) SD card is linked to the car at first use and will only work in that car after that.

What is "option 355"?

We are turning int he C250 Coupe for a C300, wifey wants to make sure she has live traffic on garmin nav. Trying to confirm this...anyone??

I'm taking this to mean you need the Sirius Radio and a subscription? I wasn't going to opt for all the audio stuff as she's just not much of an audiophile, and I can don my headset/ipod for any trips.

EDIT: Okay, read the whole thread...355 is the SD card option for Garmin Map Pilot. Still not clear about the sirius live traffic though.

No; not in Europe anyway. (But it does allow you to continue to update the navigation software, after your initial free map update feature expires)

I bought a Mercedes CLA 250 with pre wired Garmin. I don't have premium/multimedia package. I activated the Sirius Traffic Subscription. However I am not able to get any traffic updates. When I click at the Traffic Button (multiple cars icon), I get a message that "No receiver device detected". I called Mercedes and they told that as long as I would have bought either Sirius Radio/Traffic/Weather, I would be able to get traffic updates since I don't have the hardware for it.

My radio also has an ESN ID which I shared with the customer care. I tried getting it fixed for an hour but was not able to do it. Is there any one here on this forum who did not have Premium/Multimedia package but was still able to get the traffic signal?

Just did this with my '15 Colorado. No, you don't need p-pkg, call them back and have them refresh the signal to your radio - they did this to ch1 and all the traffic menus came up on the display.

They refreshed their traffic signal at-least around 3 times but it still did not work. While their are refreshing it, do I have to tune into a specific channel since its being activated for the first time?. I just took the traffic subscription (NOT the radio one).

I'm afraid your mistaken. Mine also only has the two USB slots. Nor does it have code 355 in the general data so it looks as though I'm out of luck when it comes to installing sat nav

It took me two tries with them to even get the traffic subscription - how could the first idiot sign me up for 'internet radio' when I was asking for 'traffic'. Yup. I think I called them at least three times about that, then I finally got a correct email confirmation but still no traffic. Had a big trip last week going to Colorado and wanted the traffic. Got to Barstow and called them and the girl had me put the radio on channel 1 - she refreshed the signal to my ID and all the traffic menus then showed up along with the green, red, and yellow indicators.

BTW, it's pretty darn handy - we routed around a LOT of dead traffic on the return leg. 1700 miles of driving with the truck and a thousand on the bikes. Nice tour of Colorado Rockies.

I would call them again. Once they have your information just the phone call should identify you - at least that's how it was for me. Caller ID or something.

Hello all,

First post/question as a complete newbie to the world of MB. I just bought a very slightly used 2015 C300, and trying to figure out if the navigation SD card sold by the Atlanta ebay store will work in my vehicle. I know I don't have the multimedia package, but I do have the SD slot in the center console. They say you need to have option 355 for the card to work. I don't see that on the dealer sticker I found in the car, but the display screen says that the SD card is not present when I select NAV. Any idea if this is the card I need? I don't want to order a $500+ card just to find out it's not compatible. I've sent a message to the store as well.

I ordered my SD card from the Atlanta store as well. Works great in my 2015 C300. I have Audio 20 package, not the COMAND system.

I just ordered from a dealer in CT after searching the web for lowest price. Paid with PayPal and took their coupon offer so the deal cost me $505. No tax, no shipping, so far so good.

I was about to buy the sd card. But Search for thread apple CarPlay interface bulk order. It might make sense to get this interface rather sd cArd. The vendor says it works good.

why can't someone with it just clone the SD card?

Probably because they have some form of DRM (Digital Rights Management) coded into it. If you were in the business to sell them, wouldn't you protect the data and legally stop people from copying and either giving or selling the data away?

yeah but there is software that will make true clones of sd cards. The same in fact that will clone mac hard drives. You aren't trying to use it outside of its intended use so drm should still work fine


im looking at this from a technical standpoint. I know this is morally and legally wrong and don't condone it im just curious if it can be done

It can be done, did it for my cadillac, there is a program that can duplicate exact - pre-installed image. However, I only recommend this for your own backup, not for giving or selling, that is illegal. Do a search on duplication programs for nav sd.

And NEVER offer to sell something like that in this forum.

does anyone in Asia or China have the Garmin Pilot? Just took delivery of my new car C200 with Garmin Pilot.. As I dont read Chinese I changed the settings to English which works just fine BUUUUUUUUUT all search must be done in Chinese still.... This I dont understand.. MB in Shanghai states that Garmin has developed the system like this but knowing that the pilot software is used in USA and Europe it doesnt make any sense to me that I cannot use search ( city etc ) using English.. My old car had BECKER and this had both English and Chinese versions... any ideas?
