Any word on when US 360 camera will be available

I want to place an order but want the 360 camera that works so great in my 2014 GLK 350. As soon as anyone gets a positive word, please let me know.
I'm going to sell my GLK as soon as I know I can get the 360 camera on my C300 Luxury RWD

It would appear the earliest is 2015. you can get the rear view camera, but retrofitting 360 is then not possible (at least that is what it says)

Apparently electromagnetic static from the navi system is causing the cameras to malfunction in some way

I saw a technical video on the W205 and the speaker mentioned that the newest innovation was to put the radio antenna in the side mirrors.
I don't know how they can have this option working in European models but not here in North America.
I don't know the early P1, P2 pricing, but I wonder if there was a price reduction when they took off the 360View?
There should be some working versions of this out there if you had a pre May 2014 build date.

What package do people anticipate that 360° camera would be included with in the US?

I anticipate it will be a separate option for 300 dollars like it is on other models

Unless I'm misreading something, it's only available on the E350 as part of a $1200 package.

^^ thats weird. Something must have changed recently because I could have sworn the surround view was $300 but that you had to get the parktronic package. However, even now, just getting parktronic is $970 so adding the surround view for $1290 is a 320 for the camera.

Strangely enough, the S class has it by itself for $900

Just tried building it. The S-class surround view is listed for $900 but requires you to add the $4500 premium package (!).

It's that kind of stuff that annoys me w/ the German makes. For things are could validly be considered necessary safety items, they should really make them available at a cheaper price (or, in the case of the rear view camera, STANDARD on a $94000 car!).

We'll see if the pricing scheme changes in 2018, when rear-view cameras will become mandatory equipment (I have no idea why it's taken so long). IMHO, at that point, luxury makes should be offering the surround system as standard to keep "ahead" of the curve.

06 C 350 2014 GLK350
I was out today with my GLK that has the 360 camera. It is such a nice feature that I don't want to be without it. I will have to hold up my order for a C300 RWD until I can be assured the 360 camera will be available. There are so many neat things that a few years ago we never even dreamed about but now we have them and don't want to get another car without them.
I'm from the time when cars didn't have power steering, power brakes, central locking, power windows and very few with factory air conditioning. My first Mercedes had a heater as an extra cost option. Now, we assume those and many other things are part of all cars.

The 360 camera was part of the Parktronic Package on my 2014 GLK. The total cost was $1,290.

I'm also waiting for the 360 camera and Carplay, though Carplay could just be a firmware update. Hoping they get it figured out soon.

+1

I won't buy until CarPlay is available. I'm banking on the fact that it'll be a firmware update for the 2015 model.

Exactly what does the 360 camera do if I may ask. On my '13 BMW 3 Series all it does is show a small icon representing the car and the surroundings of the car itself.

After using it a few times to see where the parking lines were in relation to the car, I have stopped using it. Perhaps the MB implementation is better...I hope so!

Really? You would let something that looks like CarPlay into an elegant Mercedes interior?

It IS overdue for car manufacturers to allow things like Mirrorlink and MHL into cars, but I don't forsee them doing it, as they can make too much money with their proprietary systems (and expensive iPhone add-ons/dongles)

That 360` thing looks neat. I didn't understand what the Germans in the video were saying, but they mentioned something about Google Maps, so the top image is from Google Maps, or is it an interpolated image (like BMW does)?

Sure. I have an Iphone and I want to have connectivity between apps and the car. If Mirrorlink will do it I'm fine with Mirrorlink too. Carplay was supposed to be available with the 2015 C but they're having issues with it. There are videos on Youtube of the C with a beta version of Carplay demonstrated on it.

I've also seen a video of the 360 camera working in an underground garage, which wouldn't be using Googlemaps screens. If you have a look on Youtube you can find similar offerings from Infiniti, Toyota, Nissan, etc which all use multiple cameras for surround view.

I get it, but it's just so unnatractive, the way they did it. In a Kia Soul, it would fit right in. In a Mercedes...well...
And the placement of the screen makes it even more intrusive. Car manufacturers should be ashamed that they aren't sending Apple back to the drawing board with this

BTW, I haven't tried it on the iPhone, but most of what the CarPlay is shown to do in videos is done by Google Now on Android phones. Can the Google Now functionality on the iPhone also do this?

I would be curious to know what the problem is. This feature was supposed to be available now and is show on several demo videos. But the rumor is some problem was discovered which put this option on hold.

I'm also hoping for a mid-2015 fix and not have to wait til 2016 as a solution for something that was supposed to be offered on the 2015 model.

I do not know the cause but the 360-system isnt available for purchase here either.

Had to change my order due to the system being locked until further notice
Had to settle with Rear View Camera instead.

However I am looking into a retrofit, but most likely it will unfortunatey be very expensive..
