New C250 - engine break in?
Hi,
I'm the proud new owner of a C250 with AMG, Vision and Comand packages.
Quick question regarding the 2L turbo engine - is engine break in required?
I've already driven the car 1400km moderately.

That should be fine. MB uses MOS2 coated rings in alusil bores that can be hell to break in so don't be too careful & don't change running in oil early. All engines are not blueprint. Watch your temperature gauge. If it creeps above normal you know you still have a slightly tight engine & should back off.

Owners manual recommends 1000 miles. IMO, for a modern car that is probably 990 too many. Seriously 500 miles or so is more than plenty. Break-in was necessary maybe 25 years ago, when manufacturing tolerances were nowhere as close to what they are today. However, given that this a German rather than Japanese car it may be wise to follow their recommendations

The only caveat that always holds true, whether the engine is new or not, is to not push it hard until it's had a chance to reach normal operating temperature.

Yep, agree with the above posters. Have 55 miles on the car, planning to take it out today and giving it a good workout, after it reaches normal operating temp that is. I know my wife won't be doing it so someone has to!
