C Class 2015 Octane (RON) Fuel Needed???
I know that this subject might have been opened a few times before, but there is a major problem happening with the C Class 2015 & B & A. The fuel mainly available in Egypt is RON 92 and in some selected petrol stations you can find RON 95. MB Egypt have been signing people that the car has to be fueled with at least RON 95 and any damages to the engine will be the client's responsibility if the fuel tested inside the car is lower than the recommended.
Regretfully, there are around 50+ cars with issues in the engine with people not fueling the correct recommend fuel type. Moreover, some cases have been identified that have fueled RON 95 and are having engine problems as petrol stations mix some lower octane fuel with RON 95 and after testing the fuel found is barely RON 92. Cheaters!!!
My question then, what is the lowest octane concentration permitted for use on the C Class specifically? I would also like to know what octane RON are people using on their cars.
When I checked the fuel lid I found that RON 95 is the only thing written and what I understand is that nothing lower than that is to be used on the car.
I don't think that this is suitable for our market in Egypt as we have major fuel issues.
Hope I can have some suggestions and true life situations that people went through.

With the M274/M270 engines Benz might have an ECU map that allows greater retardation of timing when the knock sensor detects the onset of knock. If they do this means the engine won't be running efficiently but it's better than the deleterious effects of detonation, pinging, knock ~ by whatever name you know it.
