Incoming call ringer sound VERY LOUD!

OK...two different answers
neither of you seem to be bothered by the volume, though...
The point I was trying to is if it's the phone's own ringtone (and your system does it loudly), you can actually adjust the volume of the various sound components (at least on Android), separating the volume for music/media, ringtones and system notifications, so maybe it would require going into those advanced sound settings and lowering the ringer volume (or raising the media volume, so that you don't have to crank the MB head unit up as high).

Magically, my phone ringer has become a reasonable volume, over the speakers playing of the ringtone on my phone instead of the shrill tone that MB defaults to. I'm so damn confused.

2015 W205 USA.
I do not know how to quote but it is not overly dramatic.
Galaxy S3 - Not on supported devices list, using built in ringtone on phone.
Incoming BT calls default to MB COMAND Ringtone.
It is SCARE THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS LOUD!
Adjusting volume down while ringing does not save to next call like it works for the NAV voice.
The Call reception menu is only for the voice part of the call.
I am going out to the car now to connect the S3 to the COMAND and see if there is a BT ring volume setting. There is no setting for this on the phone that I can find while it is not connected to BT.
I loaded some MP3s on it and will try changing ringtone to one of those.
I also noted that the only Samsung devices confirmed to be compatible run Android 4.4.4, I'll try updating if I can after the tests tonight.

No love.
Galaxy S3 Note running Android 5. Same problem.
Changing ringtone to mp3, same problem.
No Bluetooth audio volume controls apparent on phone when connected.
On phone with sounds off, driving mode enabled, airplane mode tried and I still have the NEARLY GAVE ME A HEART ATTACK default MB Ringer.
I an going to go low tech with a disposable $50 Windows 10 phone and give that a try. If that doesn't;t work I'll bite the bullet and try one of the recommended Apple 6 (most likely) or Samsung 6 series droids.

that is the standard way to reduce or increase volume: when the ringer is on [same for nav instructions] you adjust the volume while it is activated. it then defaults to the current volume. works the same on mb, lexus, acura, and infiniti in my experience. sans unnecessary drama.

I have to say no the volume adjustment being saved when turned down after the first ring like you would adjust the nav voice as a solution. I tested this multiple times on multiple phones and it defaults back to loud MB ringer on the next call.
Phones/Ringer volume tested:
LOUD default MB Ringer - Non adjustable:
Nokia Lumia Windows phone
Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.2.1
Samsung Galaxy S3 Note Android 5.0
Worked Perfectly:
iPhone 6S
Turn it off, shut up, and drive looks to be the only way to go without an approved phone.

Hey,
Have the same issue with my iPhone 6+...sometimes it rings using the ringtone I have set for my phone, which is a good/normal sound/volume.
But sometimes I get the default MB ringtone and is super loud and annoying and I scramble to answer the call as fast as I can.
I initially thought it was due to the phone being on vibrate vs not, but that is not the case...haven't found a pattern as to why it picks the cell ringtone vs MB default.
Take Care

Do you know how to apply the update if you have to at all? I am still having this issue even today even though the update was released earlier this week. Would I have to take it to a dealer to install it?

MBWorld Fanatic!
You have an update, on what from where? If there is a Mercedes Update to the software in the car, you'll need to go to your Mercedes dealer to have Mercedes update it.

I've heard from two different people now that there is an update to fix this specific issue. If this is correct (and I'm REALLY hoping it is), then I assume we have to go to a dealer to install the update.
I'm still not sure if all of this "update" talk is actually true or not, as I haven't seen anything concrete yet.

go see your dealer if you don't trust members from this forum...

As I reported on another thread, after the dealer had no idea what I was talking about, I called MBUSA a few days ago and they said there was no fix available. Perhaps it has not arrived in the USA yet or not many know about it.

Could be, have them contact Germany, it's out there for sure. Strangely enough the USA is freaking about liability (warnings like coffee is hot) and stuff but keep this unsafe feature in place?

Just went to my local dealer, they updated it and the issue is fixed. Ask your dealer for the update and you will be so happy, ringer is pleasantly sounding and perfect volume to grab your attention yet not scare the living daylights out of you.
Edit: I live in the US.

Now I am getting an issue where the COMAND touchpad does not work and is locked up (can't push down on any of the buttons) unless I restart the whole system by using the power button to turn the screen off and turn it back on again.
Can anyone else confirm whether or not this issue is tied to the recent software update or is just coincidentally occurring to my car only?
