Software Update will change the ring sound and let you adjust and keep the volume as soft or loud as you want it on next call.
Insist upon it. Demonstrate how it doesn't work. Don't take "we don't see any updates" as an answer.

There is a fix
Had my car to the dealer and after a long time talking to MBUSA, they found out how to fix it. Works like it should now. Took about a half day for them to find the solution and update it.

For those that have gotten their software updated, do you have Audio 20? I have Audio 20 with the Burmeister and my dealer is telling me that there is no update for my car to fix this issue.

This is great news as I am dying for a fix.
How does it work with the update? Is there a screen or function to change the ringer volume or is the volume adjustment made when the ringer is ringing (and the volume adjustment sticks so it lowered on the next ring)?

I set it so long ago and have not changed it since. I am pretty sure it is using the volume control while it was ringing. I never found a place to set it in the menus but perhaps there is.

MBWorld Fanatic!
You can adjust the volume of the ringer while it's ring only... Have someone call you and don't answer right away and use the + or - on the stearing wheel to adjust.... (Same with volume during a call)

Just got the car back - unfortunately, without a real fix.
Dealer says that I have the latest firmware and there is nothing that they can do. I can adjust the ringer volume while its ringing but the next time, its super loud again. Service advisor is saying this is just how the car is designed.
Does anyone know how to see what version of the stereo firmware I have?

A little more than 6 months ago I went to my dealer and they gave me an update that solved the issue perfectly. Those of you whose dealers are saying that there is nothing they can do may need to look for another dealer to check out. For clarification, I have a 2015 C300 with Audio20, not COMAND, and after I got the update the problem was immediately fixed.

I really love the car but this is really tiring...
Last 3 cars were 2 BMW's and 1 Audi. Never had any sort of trouble getting something as trivial as freaking software updates to fix bugs. BMW always immediately updated my cars with the latest software when there were issues. My friend's Tesla gets software updates over the air for gods sake.
I guess I'll have to call MB. Lots of trouble for something that seems like a simple software fix...

Service adviser is full of you know what. It is not "how the car is designed". I have no idea what firmware version it is but mine was fixed a few months ago. I know my service adviser was on the phone for a long time getting the proper information. I was having the windshield replaced at the same time and they said getting this problem fixed took longer than installing the windshield and I do not believe they were joking. The new software/firmware changed a few other things as well but I cannot remember exactly what right now. Keep after them or call MBUSA or both.

Our dealer told us there was no fix for this issue and sent us away telling us that everything was normal. We got the service manager and lead tech involved and insisted that there was an update. They did some research and found the update. It is service bulletin LI82-70-P061724. It fixed the ringer volume and now has a pleasant ringtone that is adjustable.
I found this about the bulletin:
2015 Mercedes Benz C200 software TSB (Bulletin LI82-70-P061724)
Bulletin Date: Jun. 26, 2015 Component: Software. Bulletin Summary: Xentry (mercedes): ringtone volume or incoming calls are too loud, even when volume is low and software need to be updated and no parts replaced. Model 205. No years listed. Vehicles covered in this TSB: 2015 Mercedes Benz C180, 2015 Mercedes Benz C200, 2015 Mercedes Benz C220.

Can you give us details on what your dealer did to fix the issue. Mine is still not fixed and dealer insists that there is nothing wrong.

I was told there was no software update until I showed them TSB LI82-70-P061724 and after the shop foreman investigated it they updated the audio 20 software fixing the problem.
