Fuel grade

Fuel grade
Just wondering what grade of fuel you guys are using in the petrol models. The British manual says:
95 RON is what we'd call a regular fuel, probably equivalent to US 87 octane. Is it worth using a premium grade?
Only refuel using unleaded, sulphur-free unleaded petrol with at least 95 RON

The UK enjoys higher octane fuel. For the US one should use 91 AKI (anti knock index) which equals approx 95RON. (their premium at coast)
If you can get higher octane fuel the vehicle will spend less of it's time running retarded timing as the knock sensor detects the onset of knock. Benz has had a reasonable amount of knocking trouble with the DI engines in variable fuel markets like Egypt & China.

Just thought that the fuel with additives to protect engine was a good idea during running in period.

Yep! You guys get really good gas. Consider 95RON as a minimum though.
If you ever detect any pinging, knock, detonation, pre ignition ~ by whatever name you know it, then reconsider.

Yes ~ indeed it is. All that tax! SA is not far behind. The US enjoys cheap fuel.
