360 Camera build?

360 Camera build?
I'm looking for some guidance from anyone with some inside knowledge....
I know the 360 camera was causing build delays, earlier and I know the sales advice is that it will be available in "Q1 2015" - according to the MBUK sales info. I am looking to add it to my order (SA Build, late March) but no-one can give me definitive steer as to whether the 360 system is definitely sorted now - if it is likely to delay the build, I will probably not bother, but if it will go ahead I would really like it.
Anyone know for sure (Glyn, Vic, et al)? Otherwise I will try the MBUK Cust Service route.

Hi, I'm also in the UK and when ordering my C200 petrol W205 just before Xmas for delivery end of May I noticed the latest price list states the 360 camera is now "expected availability Q2" rather than Q1. I asked the dealer to check saying I'd prefer to let my delivery date slip a little rather than to accept a car without the 360 camera. The answer was that my order had been accepted although delivery might be June rather than May.
I've also ordered most of the other available options including Airmatic and the Premium Plus pack. The sales guy previously had said that high specification W205's destined for the UK were sourced from Bremen, Germany rather than South Africa. But because the build date was initially indicated as end of March, shipping was scheduled to take 2 months so I'm guessing my car will be built in South Africa. Based on comments in this forum, especially from Glyn, this isn't a concern as I feel the quality of cars produced at both these plants will be similarly good but it'll just be interesting to see it's source when I get the car. Also the options you order for your car might affect where it will be built and hence the delivery.

My dealer in Belgium informed me that for new orders, the 360 camera is available for manufacturing slots as from Q2. There's limited availability (quotas per country), so you need to make sure that your dealer secures the option as soon as possible.

My dealer has just confirmed that it will not be available until "at least" Q2 and to add it to my car will delay from April until June ( with a high likelihood of further delay) - so, for me it is going to be a non-starter... Shame.

I'm on the market for a new build with all the bells and whistles, including 360 camera and Airmatic. It sounds like I should be expecting a June/July delivery?

Hi I think you'd probably be right because, as stated in my earlier post in this thread, I'm also in the UK and I ordered my highly specified C200 petrol W205 (including the 360 camera) just before Xmas and the expected delivery is June.

I checked this last week and on page 24 the notes stated that the 360 camera was expected Q2 2015 with the AirMATIC expected for Q1 2015. These notes have now been removed so perhaps the other poster who stated that the issue has now been resolved is correct. [EDIT: Other poster was in a different thread on the same topic.]
Anyone more in touch with the dealers care to chime in?

Hi again, The link you posted is for the April 2014 UK price list. This link http://tools.mercedes-benz.co.uk/cur...oon-estate.pdf is for the latest December 2014 UK price list which doesn't have any note against Airmatic and Q2 2015 expected availability for the 360 camera. When I saw this I asked the dealer to check and was told my ordered configuration, including the 360 camera, had been confirmed for an expected delivery of June. I said that I wanted the 360 camera and, if necessary, was prepared to wait.
Let's hope your expected date for the end of June get's pushed forward.
I may get mine ordered up soon then. My birthday is in July so perhaps it will time itself well...
What's your spec - if you don't mind me asking? Any thoughts on adding things to the order if newer options are released?

A C200 Sport Premium Plus in Iridium Silver, black leather (not Artico), Driving Assistance package, Airmatic, 360 camera, LED Intelligent Light System, Air Balance and HUD. In other words I've added almost every available UK option which I know is a daft way to specify a car in that I know it'll depreciate much more than a lesser specified car but I do like my gadgets. When I placed the order just before Xmas I was told late January was the freeze date after which no alterations could be made to the specification.

I did the same for the w204 - every box plus non factory options like illuminated door sills and had the dealer install them. Now they come as standard!

I got about 10% off the list price which I thought was fairly good for a car bought from a local MB dealer during it's first year on sale. However, I think I saw on this forum or maybe on MBClub.co.uk that someone else in the UK had got 14% off although this might have been from an online broker.

I agree with your point about the reduced glove box space but I was attracted by the ionising and improved filtering that the Air Balance option includes. If I decide not to use the scents I wonder if that reclaims the lost glove box space?

Which MB dealer did you go to? That's a good amount off. Sounds like everyone is getting a good deal. I've yet to negotiate a price or even price it up with a dealer. I remember I only got about 5ish% off when I brought my W204.

I saw the Air Balance on the showroom C Class at my local dealer. I think if you don't use the Air Balance scent then you get part of the lost space back. I'm not sure if you've seen it in person but it looks like a permanent addition to the glove with the place to put the canister/jar. I imagine if you took the fragrance jar out then you would only reclaim the part where the jar would go so you can get more in the glove.

I got a quote from Broadspeed.com and took it into MB Peterborough and without much trouble they got close to that quote. I also got a price from parkers.co.uk for my current car which I'm expecting to part exchange. However, because of the 6 month wait I had to allow quite a bit of leeway on the trade-in price. But I guess when the time comes if second-hand prices have held up significantly better than expected I may be able either to renegotiate this part of the deal or, if necessary, sell my current car elsewhere.

Thanks for the Air Balance info. I've only seen photos of the jar in the glove box so it's good to know that.

Thanks for the tips - very useful. I will do just that. A distant friend's friend works in MB so I'll see if he is able to match an offer I get online. Sounds like there is a fair margin that they can take off.
Regarding the trade in - I've asked a few dealers and checked online but unfortuantely my trade in price for an R8 is about 80% of the value of selling it privately. So I'm going down the private route on that.

An alternative I used recently was the British Car Auctions (BCA) SureSell scheme. It provided me with a very easy and quick way of selling a 2010 C Class. I suppose my SureSell costs were significantly higher than, for example, eBay or Autotrader but then it was nice not to have to deal directly with potential buyers and time wasters. I guess exotic cars like an R8 will generally be more difficult to sell than more mundane cars and, as a consequence, dealer margins will be higher.

A fellow forumer on the forums is interested in the R8 (moving from the V8 to the V10) so that may a solution...
BTW I just spoke to my contact in MB who says there is a dealer contribution on the C Class, £3.5k, so that plus a bit more barganing would get to the 10% off.

When I ordered it on last September, the 360 camera was not yet available.
It appeared on the configurator for my country, Belgium, at the end of October.
I 've been able to add this option just before my pending order is frozen.

South African Plant is already delivering cars locally with 360 camera so I expect UK RHD orders will be fulfilled.

Thanks - that is very interesting. I will go back around the buoy with my supplying dealer, once again and get MBUK CS to double/ triple check if I still get a brush off.

It's also returned to the MBSA website. You will note it's listed as an optional extra again for order.
