Were these issues seen in colder climates after prolonged use of the heated seats? That could in theory cause the glue to melt or become liquid.

That was my initial thought too until it was correctly pointed out to me that the back seats do not have heaters.

My front seats are (thusfar) unaffected by this issue, while my rear seats are, quite badly. Could be that whatever this stuff is is outgassing from the upholstery then re-condensing when it hits the air. Could be expansion/contraction of the material. At this point, I doubt anyone outside Daimler AG/MBUSA really knows.

Plus it does not take prolonged heat to see the oil. If the seats are cold enough, just putting your hand on the seat for a second or two will start to bring out the oil.

My C300 had build of 9/2014. Noticed oil spot on passenger seat cushion on Dec 31. On Dec 30th it was one of our colder days in SoCal. I did not know how it got there. I touched it with my hands and then wiped it off with a damp towel. No reoccurrence since that day.

Will you be taking the car in for repairs? I'm also in SoCal and the night of Dec. 30th is when I bought my C300 and drove it off the lot - I noticed the oil too on that evening. Not sure if it's worth pursuing the dealer though

Not that I think this will change your opinion, but-

You cannot possibly compare this to tobacco companies and cancer. This is a completely different ballgame. You better bet if Mercedes' toxicologists detected any harm from this they would've issued a recall notice/stop operation order immediately. I don't know if you noticed, but automotive recalls are no joke at this point. The last thing Mercedes would want would be the NHTSA accusing them of hiding something.

Warmed up from the low-single-digits to ~33ºF today and suddenly my upholstery is the worst I've seen it. Definitely seems to have less to do with ambient temperature and more to do with change in temperature. Email out to my SA, and service appointment on Tuesday.

So I purposefully left my car outside last night as the temperature was going to be 10-20 degrees. And I had bleeding this morning when I went out at 9AM. Everywhere my warm hand touched made an oily mark, and when I turned on the seat heaters I got the same swirly pattern. I took pictures, and I guess I need to get in contact with a dealer, or MBUSA?

I wonder if every car made until January has this issue of bleeding seats, if they are exposed to the cold?

I live in Westchester County NY and have the issue as well. It just began this past week as temperatures have been below 30 degrees recently. I'll be contacting the dealer tomorrow morning.

Did you add your car to poll at the top of this thread? Seems like the count has been hovering even though new comments are being made.

Man, this sux. I bought my c400 with mb-tex just two weeks ago. Didnt even want mb-tex but there were nearly no grey Or cranberry c400 left in the entire state of Texas.

I don't want to guess if my car has the problem and I shouldn't have to. Mercedes needs to tell us who has the problem or just fix all the cars already sold.
