MBrace Plus in-car apps

The in-car apps and mobile device apps suck big monkey *****. Don't waste your money after the first 90 days. Internet radio doesn't work; I get "the page cannot be displayed" error. The google maps app is completely useless because the in-car wifi is SO FREAKIN SLOW!! News is useful for its reading ability. Facebook doesn't work either.

On my mobile devices, Driving Journal and Curfew Minder doesn't work. Lock/Unlock work... sometimes and when it does it's slow.

Final verdict: Epic Fail!

Can't wait for my survey to come in.

Funny, because I just got my letter saying the trial period would continue as a paid service unless I called. I called!

I kept the basic MBRACE package, which has some useful features, but the Plus package is not nearly as good as any basic smartphone. Very slow, and very poorly implemented. BTW, I did get Internet radio working, but it's pointless at the price if you use satellite radio.

I dont understand why these apps cost money. They should let owners use their own smartphone data instead of using an in car 3G signal. They should mirror the system like Lexus Enform

I seriously don't understand how Mercedes let those apps go live and via a 3G signal, it's absolutely horrible and if it was in a Hyundai I would still complain. Very poor implementation to use 3G in 2014. 4G/LTE is so widely available, what was Mercedes thinking?? It feels like using the first iPhone 8yrs later, and even that was faster on Edge.

I think the majority of their subscribers simply forgot to call and cancel. Definitely not ready for prime time ...

It makes absolutely no sense to not allow us to tether our phones. Tesla lets you and I'm sure other car companies do. Charge me for useless apps? No thanks. I've got the air freshener option for that! Lol

Oh and the whole command interface needs an overhaul. I just want to change the channel and don't want to go more than one level deep to do so.

I took delivery of a 2016 GLC 300 in December, and not having known how bad MBrace internet radio is, I pre-paid for 3-years subscription for Mbrace Entertainment....well....at first, I thought it was kind of cool, but now I notice a very annoying trend---Even if the Internet radio options load and are presented to me, and even if after that I can get the TuneIn Radio app to load, and even if after that I can get my favourite station to load, it buffers and cuts out or outright drops frequently. I think I can use it MAYBE 25% of the time that I try, and I do not live out in the country. By comparison, I've just streamed the same app/station from my iPhone via BlueTooth and voila! It is much more reliable and robust. Soooo, needless to say I am going to call in and cancel the remaining subscription for Mbrace Entertainment (and noted so on my JD Power survey). I feel like that part of the experience has been more Trabant or Wartburg than Mercedes Benz...why would they stick with such lousy and outdated technology??!!!

One of the big problems with the mbrace in-vehicle apps is the apps are brain-dead as to your location - for GLC's that don't have the optional Navigation. I assume all GLC's have GPS - at least for emergency services, so why don't the location-sensitive apps make use of it?

Take the weather app - it defaults to San Francisco weather, but upon selecting "my current location", I get the weather for Nadi Airport in Fiji!

The Search apps (Yelp, Movies, Hotel, Where) default to "location near me" and if you select that, you will get absolutely nothing found for anything you search. You must instead select a previously stored location, or STOP the car, and manually and painstakingly enter a new location. Then the searches will work! But a pinpoint location cannot be entered, so you will have to live with wider area search results.

The Gas Station app doesn't even allow you to enter a location, so it is completely useless since "gas near me" finds nothing either.

The Flight Information app lets you enter an airport code or city, but it couldn't find any airport for Tulsa, Tul, Houston, Hou, IAH, so it too is utterly useless.

A few apps that don't need location work OK - such as news and finance, but I don't ever see myself going through the trouble to launch these apps to get my information that way.

So bottom line - MB's decision to disable GPS and voice integration with mbrace apps on cars without Navigation renders most of the apps a big waste of time. For those of you who do have Navigation, I hope none of my above comments apply.

Please MB - bring on Carplay and Android Auto ASAP!
