Heated rear screen

Heated rear screen

Just noticed something odd last night. Cold night here in the UK, jumped in the car and after a couple of minutes noticed the rear heated screen had come on and the window was de-misting! Distinct horizontal lines could be seen as if Id switched the heated screen on, which I hadnt! The AC was on, nothing else. Operated the switch for the rear screen and the amber indicator came on. Switched it off and still the rear screen cleared. This happened on two journeys. Looked on line and in the handbook and theres no mention of the screen being automatic. Ive never heard of an auto rear screen heater!
Any thoughts?

Do you have Thermotronic? I believe I've read something like that but not sure where...

Hi Turt, no, just the basic AC. Could well be on all the time. Obviously I can only see it working when is misted up.

Hello . I don't know if your car is diesel but mine when it starts to regen the thermal moon lights up. I have placed a led connected to the thermal moon. so as not to cut off the regeneration of the particulate filter.
