Very Loud Annoying Squeaky Breaks 2015 C300

Just leased a brand new 2015 C300. Within one month the breaks started squeaking. Sorry, I mean squealing. This is more than just breaking in. This is a loud annoying noise that makes the car unbearable to drive. Spoke to MBUSA and their response was "Breaks function as they are designed". They wont do anything for us. Does anyone know what else I can do? How can I escalate this complaint.

I'm experiencing the same issue, particularly when it's cold and the car is in reverse. The crazy thing is that the audio of your video doesn't fully illustrate the severity with which the brakes squeal...it's extremely loud!

From what I know this is normal for German cars when it's moist or cold outside. Same thing happened in my GTI, same thing is happening in my CLA 45 AMG, as well as in my dads VW Golf Wagon TDI, and other German cars in the family. (For each car the dealerships stated that it's normal due to the cold and moist conditions).

Somebody is feeding you a line of BS. I live in Colorado and it's a very dry climate. My german car ownership history includes a MKIV GTi, MKIV R32, MKV R32, B8 A4, E39 M5 and currently drive an E36 M3 in addition to my W205...with the exception of the Mercedes, none of them have ever experienced brake squeal of any kind.

When I was growing up my friends mom had a Mercedes. The brakes squealed and she said ALL Mercedes brakes squeal and if hers did not squeal she would not want it!

LoL...FWIW within the last 30 days I've driven a 2011 SLS, 1998 CL600, 2011 CL63, 2003 SL500, 2011 SL65, 2009 G550 and 2008 S550 and guess what...none of them have had squeaky brakes. I guess they should all be orphaned!

I had a MKVI GTI where the brakes were normal during the summer time, but squealing a bunch during the winter time. My Dad has a Golf Wagon from 2010 and the same thing occurs. It might just be something with the brakes some brands use now on newer models, but from what I know each dealership stated that it's normal when I asked about it. (Both VW dealerships here stated that, same as the MB dealership that I use.) So based off my experiences, and most of my families it's rather normal here in Edmonton.

There is a difference between a squeak and a squeal. This noise is noticeably loud. Louder than anything you would normally expect to hear. It is embarrassingly loud actually. There is no way that this is a normal occurrence. I find that hard to believe.

In my CLA 45 it's just as loud, and I agree it's rather annoying, and embarrassing. Only advice I can give you is try contacting MBUSA again, and get the brakes checked out again at a different dealership if there's one near you to confirm whether or not the brakes are fine.

I agree with you...the noise is definitely not a typical dirty pad brake squeak that most are accustomed to hearing. Maybe we need to get StanNH's car to do it so people will believe us.

Mine does it too. Loud shriek, not a squeal. Only in the morning, for the first minute or so. Which is great, as all of my neighbors get to hear the quality of the Mercedes brakes every morning.

lol, that's exactly how I feel. I live in a high rise condo so you could imagine what it sounds like squealling away in an underground parking garage.

Have 2 new 2015 c300s in the family and both squeal loudly when cold and in reverse. My son in law took his in and they resurfaced the pads and the problem continued. He brought it back again and they replaced the pads. So far so good. Haven't brought mine in yet but will make sure they replace the pads. I'm not happy about the idea of having the pads ground down which will ultimately reduce the life of the pads. So far the car has been in for a steering and tire recall and a rattle in the dash. The burmester speaker in the passenger door has a rattle when using Bluetooth and when listening to certain music. I'm not overly thrilled with the amount of problems I've had so far but appreciate how well the dealership has treated me.
