LED headlight Auto Highbeam doesnt do anything

I just picked up a C400 with LED package, and when I tried the auto highbeam feature, it doesn't do anything. It doesn't even activate the highbeam, it just keeps it in low beam mode.

Is it because they decoded the auto highbeam feature to meet US laws?

If so, can a MB tuner help me enable the auto highbeam feature using a VAG COM?

How did you turn on the highbeam feature?

for it to work, I believe the switch needs to be in automatic and you turn on the high beams. There should be an indicator that lights up (on my w212 it has an A inside a graphic that looks like a light). when it is dark and there are no oncoming light sources the brights should turn on - some overhead street lights can also trigger the sensor so it often doesn't work in the city or on well lit roads.

you can test the high beams by simply turning the switch to "on" from "A" and push the stalk and the high beams should turn on.

I have the Full LEDs and the auto high beams work great for me. street lights will in most cases keep them from coming on. And they are speed sensitive as well I think you need to be going at least 25 mph. A nice touch is that when going from high beam to low beam they seem to dim back to low rather than abruptly on to off
Light Switch needs to be in auto then push the left stalk towards the dash. That's it.

Yeah I had my lights in AUTO and I pushed the stalk forward. the AUTO HIGH BEAM icon lit up on my LCD screen, but the light was just low beam.

Are you in the USA?

Remember that you need to exceed 50km/h and there cannot be any other lightsource visible such as lit lamp posts or similar for the system to function.

Also, with these new LED headlights, the transition from low to highbeams is very smooth and hardly noticable compared to the previous xenon or halogen systems.

However when you have full auto highbeams on, the blue indicator should come on.

Standard highway street lights will not interfere. It would have to be a lot of light for it not to work. My guess is it does work you just werent over 50mph and in a dark place yet

Maybe intelligent lighting has not been enabled in the Lights submenu? It's not clear in the manual wether this needs to be on for the active main beam system.

Yes, if the other conditions above (speed/correct settings etc) are met. I have used it a lot since August on my w205.... Works great (for me).

Yes they can do that, but not in the USA. These features are shut off because of the current regulations. Here all they do is turn on and off automatically. Bummer I know, but that is what we got. Some guys figured out how to re-enable these "extra" features on BMWs (called no-dazzle or dazzle free high beams), but I have not heard of anyone that has figured out how to do this on Mercs.

Yeah, it took me a couple of tries with the setting set to the "on" position to notice when the high beams actually turned themselves on.

OK I finally got it to work tonight by going to a dark road in the desert. It doesn't seem to activate for me until like 60mph and it is so sensitive to other light sources .
