Mercedes C200 (W205) Avantgarde petrol RWD
While cleaning my car yesterday I noticed that there was a slight step down on the left side. I can take a photo today and post later. The dealer told me that the car was German built. I take that with a grain of salt. I read a thread somewhere here or Benzworld re vin numbers and locations of build. I think it referred to the 11th alphanumeric indicating build location. Mine is R which according to the information on the thread indicated an SA build. I don't know how accurate/reliable that information is. Maybe someone on here can verify?

2015 with only 28,000 miles and no problems except a few aux batteries. I bought an extended warranty, and I have not used a dime of it. I had a 2000 E320 for 15 years and 66,000 miles. I bought two extended warranties, and I used every dime of the purchase price and then some. Nothing but problems.

I have a similar story as hpilot.
2015 C300 4Matic, production date June 04, 2015. Only issues have been; one Auxiliary Battery (PCB/Capacitor) failure replaced under factory warranty and the funky A/C smell which is a "feature". :p
I also purchased an extended warranty and have not used it once.
Currently at 41K miles. I generally drive in a manner that would be considered normal, but I also drive and push the car very hard at times. Very solid car for me.

Not one single issue in my 3 years of ownership. Bought CPO and extended the warranty 2 years beyond the CPO 1 year extension and got 2 years included maintenance. 23k for all that included and it had 27,500 miles on it from Santa Monica MB in 2019. Got a great trade-in price for my Cadillac ATS as well.

Auxiliary Battery (PCB/Capacitor) failure (replaced myself), funky A/C smell (I foam cleaned mine),purchased an extended warranty have not used it.
Lately, I've had the rough down shift to 4th and 5th. It's worse when the engine is cold (first start) and more rougher in winter (cold).

Wow, everything you wrote is exactly the same as my expereice with my W205 but 51k miles.

I've foamed mine 3 times over a time span using Klima-Cleaner. It helps for a short period of time then the funk comes back at full angry strength again. I'm sure the issue is amplified for me as I live in SW Florida which is swampy weather most of the year. If there's a fungus known to man, in south Florida it grows at nuclear-waste-mutation level down here. :p

Directly to the source of the problem within the evaporator enclosure. I used what appears to be a "service port" near the cabin air filer box, under/behind the glovebox. I confirmed it leads to the evaporator and I got good saturation with the cleaner, as it was coming both out of the drain under the car and back out of the "service port". All confirmed using an endoscope. It got rid of the strong "dirty sock" odor each time for about 1-3 weeks or so.

The draining and venting of the evaporator enclosure is a poor design, especially for warm and humid climates where A/C use is heavy (which is my case). I also had it done at a MB dealer... the so-called "bio service". Same results.
I'm thinking the "sunglass holder compartment" in the upper console is really there to hold 4 clothes pins. One for each potential passengers' noses, lol
