Danger - beware!
I was putting some bits in my boot earlier with the keys in my pocket, my head was slightly inside and my leg must have swung under the bumper. This must have started closing the boot and the plastic hard lug bit came down onto my head, it gave me quiet a jolt and have now got a fairly large bruise

Nasty, but at least you're ok other than the bruise. This had occurred to me with the estate/wagon I've ordered. I'll have to be careful.

I'm impressed that your keyfob worked and allowed it to close the trunk.
I almost pulled a muscle this morning kicking under the trunk to get it to open, before giving up and doing it the old fashion way.

Maybe I'm wrong about this, but isn't there a button inside the trunk lid, that you can push to automatically close it?

Yes, there is a button to either close the trunk, or close + lock the car. The trunk will also close if you double kick under the car, which is what must have accidently happened to the OP. This is with the Hands Free option only.

I previously thought you could only open it with the kicking motion.

Thank You Very Much For This Post !!!!!
I did not even realize mine had that option.
I suppose I should get out the manual and study it for a while. LOL !!

Not that I would, but say you go through a drive-thru car wash and one of the mechanical brushes or sprayers goes beneath the trunk. If the key fob is on your person inside the car, would the trunk open...maybe right before the rinse cycle!

Only works when there's no ignition so shouldn't be an issue
