COMAND fails to start on car ignition
Hi everybody,
I have noted a major problem with the 2015 C-Class. After ignition, the COMAND console (infotainment) fails to start; no radio, no telephone, no navigation, screen stays off. The sensors of the car fail (blind spot monitoring system). I have noted this in -10 to -20 celsius weather. It has happened on 2 C-class that I have driven (mine and a replacement vehicle).
Has anyone else noted similar problems?
(ps StanNH I know you have had a lot of cold-related problems, has this happened to you?)
thanks in advance,
montrealdave

No, that's not normal. I started my C300 loaner this morning at 24 below zero F and all was normal. I picked up my own C300 from the dealer later in the day, when the temperature had shot up to a scalding +7 F, and no problem.
It sounds like a faulty connection, that may be temperature sensitive with the expansion and contraction that brings. Definitely not kosher ... a trip to the dealer is in order.

thanks Stan!
this has happened in the cold after I have saved my 'home' address for the navigation system.
did you have any problems with the system after inputting the home address?

Not at all, in fact I started route guidance for my home location as soon as I left the dealer. Are you sure nothing is touching the off button on the center console?
