C450 (pre-ordered Jan 14)
Wow... I've driven the C400 and I own a dual clutch car. Everything I've read says it's a standard automatic. I know the baby AMG has a dual clutch transmission, and from what I've read about that unit, it probably shouldn't have. If that article is correct, I'd be stunned. It really felt like a traditional automatic (albeit a good one).

Based on how there cars are done now, which is all the none AMG models dont have dual clutch transmission, I doubt they would change that any time soon.

Thanks Vic!!
Out of interest the 7G can be programmed to operate as a 9 speed but the ratios are all wrong.

Literally every review out there mentions something about the DCT. Here are just a few.
http://www.edmunds.com/mercedes-benz...rovements.html
"Its seven-speed DCT transmission, too, could use more refinement. It is inconsistent in its reactions, sometimes choosing the right gear at the right time; many times it gets tripped up, a half-step behind the driving conditions. On paper, a DCT might sound like an upgrade over a traditional automatic, but I'd take BMW's outstanding autobox over this one (and many others) any day of the week."

"Whether sport or economy mode is selected, the Mercedes always seemed to be a half-gear shy of where it should have been, and the combination of turbo lag and wonky clutch take-up makes smooth low-speed driving difficult. Once on the road there's plenty of power to get into trouble, so it's not a fundamental output issue -- rather it's a lack of refinement between the engine and transmission. Throw in a touch of torque steer on our FWD CLA250 and there just seem to be some calibration issues that need to be worked through"
"Benz's dual-clutch gearbox is a bigger sore spot, though. There's a lot of clutch slipping going on during launches and shifts are far from lightning quick. That's in comparison to Audi's own dual-clutch box in the 2015 A3 2.0 TFSI Premium I drove previously, which is stellar. My guess is that Benz's laggy transmission comes down to tuning and I'm hopeful that improvements are in the works."

"But it is not all good news with the drivetrain; the transmission lets the engine down. Like the Canadian-specific 2013 Mercedes-Benz B 250 hatchback we got to sample earlier this year, this dual clutch transmission is slow to react and jerky in its actions"
