Enter your VIN here : http://carinfo.kiev.ua/cars/vin/mercedes
It will spit out your data card, and one of the numbers will be either 485 or 486 for suspension

I am still waiting to hear back from the dealership regarding my non-sport suspension.

Both my salesperson and I called MBUSA yesterday. They are saying that the build sheets are wrong and that I do have the sports suspension. They said that they contacted a C Class specialist and it is confirmed that if you ordered the Sports Package in the US, you have the sports suspension even if the build sheet said comfort. The build sheet is an error from Germany or something.
It is true that my car is pretty stiffly sprung (much stiffer than my sports BMW). So maybe its just the wrong springs or depending on options, the ride height is different. I don't know.
When I asked about why my car is so tall, she said that I need to make an appointment with the service department to check out my suspension. So I guess that is what I will need to do.
The mystery continues...

Not sure I am buying that chuckieboy. Why does pretty much every Sport I see that sits high...when I pull the datacard...states it has the 485 suspension. And those with 486, sit 1.25" lower. I could maybe see the data cards being wrong...if it weren't for the consistent visual evidence. Keep us posted.

chuckieboy, i'm afraid the system is right and the source of truth in this matter. you can ask your dealer to print car's data card ...
just to ensure we do not overestimate the issue: between cars similarly equipped ( engine, transmission, etc ) the difference does not exceed 15 mm = 2/3" ( sport suspension vs. standard one ). and this is inline with MB specification for lowered or sport suspension.

Picture angles can distort the view, and two people may not measure the same way. Too many variables to conclude from the reports and pictures here that anyone with the Sport package received the comfort suspension.

The data-card from the dealer says comfort suspension.
I have a service appointment tomorrow for them to look at it.

Does anyone here know how serious a change it would be to have MB change out the suspension to the proper sports? I wonder how many parts it is and how serious a repair it would be?

After lots of "discussion" they finally pulled out the tape measure and compared my car with another Rwd sport on the lot. The height difference was confirmed.
I am now waiting to here back from the dealer and mbusa.

I am waiting to get my car into the dealer to be "checked" as well. Not sure what they will be looking for exactly? I am guessing the springs and shocks have part numbers that are specific to the sport suspension vs the comfort suspension? Once that gets done, will update this thread with the findings, and what will happen next.

I just got my C300 Sport RWD with 18' AMG wheels in the US and there is a huge gap between the top of the tires and the bottom of the wheel well. In front it is about 2.5 inches and the rear is even larger.
I can't see any transport blocks or anything on the struts/springs but I haven't jacked up my car.
Is this normal? My 06 BMW 325 with Sport Package and 17' wheels has a tiny gap (about 1 inch).

The night I was at the dealership ordering my new C300W4, the sales person I was dealing with was new and did not know much about the new C300. She had trouble entering the order on the computer, and she had to call the Sales Manager over multiple times for help. What I found strange was after she had entered all my choices, there was still a choice of suspension listed, and I purposely had her check the box for "486 Sport Suspension". Here's what my build sheet listed when all was said & done...

I picked up my C300 rwd sport 19" wheels . It looks ok as far as hight but the black car black tire can be tricky . It measures from ground to fender 27 1/8 " in front 27 1/2" back. Vin is to new to tell what suspension I got.

I'm not sure I understand this. In every non-US build, the Sport/AMG package can be ordered without the sport suspension. In the U.S. builds, the sport suspension is an integral part of the Sport Package and can not be deleted or ordered as a stand alone option. According to MB-USA, there is no configuration that allows for anything but the sport suspension with the Sport option package.
So, how are Sports being produced without the sport suspension? Is this a change in specs or an error in the ordering system? Has anyone been able to confirm that the cars in question really have non-sport suspensions installed?
This just doesn't make any sense.

These cars definitely ride high ant I also think it hurts the stability as I posted in the past this car feels unsafe at high speeds, the rear seems to be in another zip code with a mind of its own. It takes a lot of getting used to coming from a sportier BMW. I personally haven't seen any C class with a small wheel gap but I'm interested to what MBusa comes back with. These cars to me are a great deal over the 3 Series you get a lot more for your money but I wish they would make them handle better, get ride of that gap and remove some of the chrome.
That said (nineteen, your care looks great!)

I have become pretty adept at identifying US cars with the sports package and the incorrect comfort 485 running gear. For those who were looking for a car with 19s with the wrong suspension, here is one from cars.com that has 485 comfort running gear (confirmed by VIN) so you can how bad it looks. Apparently quite a few dealers made errors when inputting the sports package into the order system. There were at least 4 cars with Sport/485 on Cars.com.

It's possible that MB-USA is now going with the same option package as they do elsewhere, where the Sport/AMG can be ordered as an appearance package and the suspension ordered as a standalone option. If that's the case, which I doubt, then why haven't they told anyone about it?

In the US, the 485 with Sport is not a valid order option, so how is the system accepting this? When "Sport" is selected, the ordering system should simply generate the 486 suspension as part of the package. If 485 is entered, the system should return an error and refuse to take it. Something's really messed up here.
