Mine works less in cold weather combined with short trips and lots of electrical usage (dark days=lights, heaters etc)

Is you c300 new? My early build had the engine noise issue and I also experienced infrequent Eco/start/stop. After the Pistons were replaced it stops all the time. Just a thought but if the engine is sensing another problem (knocking in my case) it will not initiate the auto shut off.

I'd consider it a blessing if my car's ECO Stop/Start would stop working.

There's a bunch of guys over at "Eco start stop feature ... Will it stay off ?" who hate auto start/stop. They are dying to find out how you did it! (A couple of them have already showed up over here.)

Consider yourself lucky. I would pay money to permanently disable it...

I have had the car since Jan 16 and its worked fine, however, since recently having B service last month the engine randomly fails to start, having stopped in Eco activated mode. This causes some delay (and indeed some embarrassment) by then having to put drive into neural and manually start before engaging drive to pull away. Am losing confidence in it and believe it could result in an accident as the car could roll back on an incline. MB garage say they've not had other reports of similar fault from other MB owners - this I rather doubt and would be interested to hear from anyone else experiencing similar problem. Its now booked in for MB diagnostic check as its still under warranty. I'll report on the outcome of diagnostics by MB engineers

Update: My MB dealer checked out my car and apparently could not find any problem as registered as a fault when System Diagnostics was interrogated, however they did refer my problem to MB Stuttgart engineers. They seemingly did eventually acknowledge the problem and made the following recommendations:
1: Install New Software Update for ABS braking system and 2: Replace the Air filter with an updated design.
I'm very glad to say that having now driven the car for last 2 weeks in Eco mode, the problem does appear to have been resolved and now I also notice that when I park the car, the hand brake applies itself automatically. This was not the case previously and did required my intervention to set it. The engine is also now quieter during acceleration and I hear less of 'a growl'

Mines fixed itseld after two months of not working, I put it down to battery discharge.

Thats an interesting side note about the growl on acceleration, I've got that and it's not a nice sound, interesting to know it could be sorted with a new design, started to think there was something wrong with the engine as it sounds like a knock at low speeds it's that horrible a growl.

I can well imagine some MB drivers would like to hear the 'growl' on acceleration. I knew, however, it wasn't noticeable prior to the Service and I queried this 'growl' with the Dealer as to why it should happen after the Service and he appeared puzzled. I personally no longer want any extra noises in my car when I'm driving. Having owned many, what's now considered vintage, sport cars i.e. MG TA, Austin Healey, Triumph TR2, TR3A and TR4 in the past. I now prefer near quietness where possible. I'm assuming the newly designed filter helps to muffle the air intake.

please everyone take note ... I've been struggling with the same issue ... My auto start stop stayed on yellow when I put the temperature hi in the car and as I turned it down to 21 degrees it turned green and allowed the start stop function to start working .... everyone going thru thus issue should try put their temperature down and see if it works

Flakey Start/Stop function

I was not aware that adjusting the temperature control on my car had any effect on my Start/Stop function, so can't comment, but I did take my car in to Mercedes Dealership (then still under warranty) and explained the problem. The engineer 'appeared to know nothing about this issue' being reported 'world wide' and when he tested it nothing showed up on a system diagnostics check, but he did 'update software' specific to the brakes and transmission. And this did improve the issue at first and I was aware immediately how the auto brake engaged and disengaged on moving off without need to touch the hand brake button. After about 8 moths, very occasionally the issue started again, namely the engine would stop running but not restart from temporary stop. However, it occurred very much less frequently and I learned to overcome the issue simply by pressing the 'Start/Stop' button each time it occurred. The engine always started immediately and I was able to drive off without too much trouble, whereas previously, I'd turn off the ignition and go through start up process that took longer, causing some delay to movement and annoyance to vehicles behind me, not to mention risk of rolling on a sloping road. So, in short my advice is to simply restart by pressing the Start/Stop function whenever it occurs or turn off start/stop function altogether.
I've since sold my Mercedes and now have a new VW Golf with Start/Stop and so far it works fine, in fact it works better because it has radar 'Adaptive Cruise Control' that senses traffic ahead, so as soon as the car in front moves off in a line of traffic, the engine starts up immediately saving a few seconds each time.
Cheers

On the way back home after work, I stopped by gas station to pump some gas.
After gas station, while I was at the intersection waiting for green light, the engine is keep running. weird...
I didn't use any A/C or Heater climate control, no radio, CD...so it won't be the battery charging issue.
I checked the Eco Start/Stop switch and there's no green light.
I pressed that switch several times but nothing changed (still no green light).
Once I got home, I shut off the engine then started the engine again then the green light illuminated.
When I stopped my car inside of the garage the engine shut off as usual....normal activation of Eco Start/Stop function
What I suspected was, not 100% sure tho, normally I press the Start/Stop button once(1) when I started the engine but today I pressed it 3 times instead of 1.
1st press - radio on Mode, 2nd press - Electronic On mode then 3rd press - engine starts...
Any advise?

Hi nimrod01 - I am having the same issue on my 2018 C43 AMG, what was the outcome from MB inspecting this issue?

You need to have your seatbelt buckled to activate it. Mine will be yellow until I click my driver seatbelt then it stays lit green and stop start works. Also stopped working because battery wasn’t putting out enough power because it was old. Just my two cents
