Nope. Honestly expected more from it, and it's not really that fast. It's also only .1 seconds faster then a 335, and just as fast as a 435. (This is based off the 0-60 times where the 335 and 435 don't have the M Performance package. Once you add that then the BMW's are faster or just as fast.)

P.S don't forget BMW is replacing the 335 and 435 with a 340 and 440 which have a newer more powerful engine. Added on Audi is developing a new S4/S5.

Just calling it how I see it. The cars specs look weak and defineately not worthy of wearing an AMG badge anywhere on it.

Because posers don't care what the cluster says, they only care if there is flashy badging on the exterior of the car so people think they are ballers.

Relax will you?
You if anyone should know how a real AMG is badged?

This is part of the new "AMG Sport" lineup, cars like these will emerge in far more classes than the mid range model C
Just the same as BMW.s "M-Sport" program.

I dont see the issue here, sure it is no AMG but then again I dont see it as a "poser", it is not hard to distinguish the two even for a non petrolhead.

I have to disagree, from 15 feet away the cars look identical, the C450 shrares the same body and bumpers as the C63. Even to a trained eye the two cars are hard to tell apart. If I were a W205 C63 customer I would not be all too happy about the two vehicles similarities in appearence.

Similar?

The C63 has:

Completely reworked front bumper
Side skirts with aluminum or CF trm
Quad exhaust
New rear diffuser
Front fenders with "dimple"
New hood
Different Wheels
Single fin mesh grille with emblem
Much larger brakes front and rear.

The C450 Sport looks just like any Sport Model C , the only difference are the slightly modified exhaust tips, the diamond grill and special wheels.
Even the brakes are the same as the C400

If you cant tell a genuine C63 AMG apart from the C450 from 15 feet you need thicker glasses.

It's pretty easy to tell the difference between the C63 and C450. I think that Glyn should keep an eye on this thread like the other one that descended into ridiculousness.

Already shot the mods a message... it would be nice to be able to have a civil discussion about the car without people trying to wreck the thread. It would be different if this were posted over in one of the AMG sections, but it is not.

C450
FWIW, the Beemer M guys are all butt hurt as well about the M Sport moniker being placed on the M235 etc. I just don't get my friend Jimmys vitriol against a car that is clearly not an AMG in every sense of the word other than a few tiny front fender decals. I also don't believe that anyone who buys one is a poseur. Perhaps they like the car? I like the looks of it quite frankly and the fact that it has AWD is the cherry on the sundae. Sure, it doesn't have the " hand built " engine, but so what, they're not saying it does? I don't get the blowback?

Based upon the several recent reviews, the car mags love the car and see it as a more comfortable viable alternative to the C63. Plus you save about $25k to boot. Not a bad thing at all. It's also a strong alternative to the CLA45 AMG, the same car many have also said is not a true AMG. Just wait till some guys start modding these C450s and going into the 11s with that AWD. it's going to happen.

Simply not correct. This does not share the same body and bumpers as the C63. In fact, it looks identical to the sport model of the C class, except with the extra bar in the exhaust to make it look like a quad.

Thank you ScottW911!!

As for the 450, I'm really excited that MB would do such a car. For years the Audi S4 has in my opinion, owned this "segment" if you will...for AWD sport sedans. As much as I would love to have a C63 (who wouldn't), for a variety of reasons including price, that car would not work for me at this stage of my life.

The 450 gives me a bit more sportiness and emotion than the 400 (also a great car) and is now something I would actually consider after having 2 S4s in my family. The press also seems to "get" this car for what it is and I can't wait for the possibility to drive one.

I wonder what people would think about this car if they had just left AMG out of the name and off the side?

While I am not happy they have diluted the brand, this seems to be a good car. I believe it represents a nice balance between performance, luxury and technology. I am sure that the C63 will be much better, and a more hooligan worthy car. One car does not discount the merits of the other.

As far as looks goes, MB's have moving towards homologous looks for a while now. Dare I say, that looking at the two cars side-by-side, the C450 looks ALMOST better in my eyes.

Aren't these cars both going to be built in the same factory? That's what scare me most, an AMG built in Alabama.

And one last point, those that are pissed that the average consumer will mistake their AMG for a lowly $70 luxury car with twin turbos, active suspension and 4matic, probably needs a priority check.
I bought an AMG because of the level of performance and luxury it provided. Sure the fact that it says AMG adds to the fun and cache, but it wasn't why I bought it.

Sorry for the diversion....
Please return to talking about about a complete piece of chit this car is and that MB might as well burn down the brand.

Very well said. The one point I would contest is that since the C450 isn't actually an AMG car, I don't feel that it dilutes the brand. I would think that the CLA45 and GLA45 do more to dilute the brand (4 cyl engines??) than the C450 with tiny AMG fender emblems.
