iPod - Device not connected

I have a W205 C200 and I am getting irritated with the "Device not connected" message everytime I start the car. Seems like the Mercedes system does not work properly. The system recognises the ipod if I unplug and plug again. Very irritating. This nonsense does not happen in BMW F10 5 series.

Does anyone have a solution to this problem as the Mercedes expert is clueless.

Not sure as the car recognizes my iPod Nano without any issues. Have you tried doing a few things to the iPod itself? Hard reset, update firmware, etc?

It may make it easier to diagnose if you specify which iPod/device gives you the problem and the firmware version for the device (if you know how to determine this).

Mine connects to my iPod nano all the time. My only issue is that it connects to my iPhone first. I have to disconnect and reconnect to the iPod.

I have an old 2nd gen iPod Nano, and the W205 could not see it at all. Replaced it with a 7th gen Nano, zero problems. Connects every time via cable, or Bluetooth if enabled. I tend to use it wired, better sound quality. And IIRC, more controls available via wired connection (I checked via BT once a few months ago, so not sure if remembering correctly)

What cable are you using? I had a very similar issue with my BMW Z4, a while back, it turned out to be the Chinese copy cable, I was using. Got a genuine one and it was fine.
